I've been looking at some various pistol safes w/ biometric readers to surprise my wife for Christmas. Unfortunately, still being in college/school (despite being a firearms owner) my budget for gifts is pretty limited...I've been eyeing the Vaultek v10i or v20i, but that's a lot of money to me right now.

Does anyone know anything out there that is travel friendly in a car, has a cable connection for theft, biometric, and is keeps the firearm safe? It doesn't HAVE to be biometric either, but I feel the biometric option would make it that much more secure. The cable connection is not a deal breaker if it doesn't have it either, but it'd be nice. My wife travels with my kids to Colorado from Idaho a lot via car (as I can't always come with her), and I'm looking for something for her to store her firearm in the vehicle or at her parent's house when she wants to go places where she either doesn't want to carry or can't. My wife has applied for her Idaho CWL, and is pretty much waiting for paperwork to finalize. Her family is pretty anti-gun, so being able to secure it when she is away from home is really important to me.

Thanks!

When you have a list of models, go search on YouTube for them. Especially the LockPickingLawyer and Locklab channels. Some models have fatal vulnerabilities.

I use a Console Vault in my truck, it is bolted down & out of sight. Don’t know if this will fit your needs or price range, but they probably my make one to fit your vehicle.

I've used a Vaultek (non-bio version) for some time now, and it's been fantastic...minimal moving parts, portable (teatherable), and super quick access.

IMO, the non-biometric version is actually far more secure (than the bio-version), and they're having a cyber-monday sale on those right now...

Just make sure to disable the internal bluetooth radio once you've got it set up...
