In spite of my best efforts to avoid it, I'm putting together a new bolt gun. Remington 700 pattern action. I'm going to need a trigger. I have a couple of Jewels, and I like them just fine, but I know there's all sorts of new stuff out there. I have no problem with single stage or two stage.

What's your current favorite? If you'd like to mention why you like it, I'd be interested to hear.

Everybody recently seems to love the TriggerTech Diamond.

I am still a 2-Stage guy. Hoser gave me some great advice a while back and I run straight trigger shoes on everything. I run the Timney CE Flat in most everything. I also really like the Tubb trigger. If TriggerTech's 2-Stage is good and not to expensive, I might try one of those. As you well know, switching triggers gets expensive, since I need the all the same.

I have a Trigger Tech adaptable w/the flat shoe and it’s solid. I like being able to prep the trigger on the second stage knowing that the shot is coming with just a hair more pressure. I find that for me, I’m able to time my trigger press with the collapsing of my lungs for a steady shot.

Trigger Tech Diamonds are money, and they have a few different options if you're into flat bow triggers.

That said if you're looking for a 2-stage recommendation, I really like the Huber I've been using for the past year-ish.

I prefer trigger shoe width of 1/4" or so. Have 10 of thousands of rounds on CG Extreme two stage triggers. Can't have the first stage much below 12-14 ounce or it won't pass a drop test. CG Extreme trigger shoe width about the same a Geissele. I bought a Tubbs a few years ago, sold it. Trigger shoe too skinny. You might like it if accustom to the trigger shoe of the Jewell. Best single stage trigger I've pulled is Bix and Andy Benchrest, offer different trigger shoes.

Velocity triggers are made by Tom Verh. His brother owns Timney. Anything from those two would be a good choice.

I ended up doing the Trigger Tech Diamond. No real thought was put into the decision, I just rolled the dice. It is indeed a very nice trigger.

I adjusted it down to the point where I would occasionally get an ND in dry fire and then did the drop test ala Competition Dynamics. Three drops, no click. I don’t own a trigger gage, so I can’t say how light it actually is, but I can tell you for damn sure it’s too light for me. I’m impressed. I’m also going to turn it back up to something I won’t get a DQ with.

My heart is in my throat every time Stan drops my rifle. I swear he dropped my AR from 2' at the SAC this year.
