View Full Version : Vortex Viper PST
Any thoughts on Vortex scopes? Looking for a midrange scope and this series seems to fit the bill.
They’re fine. Good warranty. Some other brands have the same warranty and are equal in quality. Might find a different brand with a reticle you like more or something. A lot of choices out there.

Am a fan, I have several. Good value in price range. Best thing about the warranty is I have never had to use it.
The Strikefire 2 on truck gun takes alot of abuse and holds zero.
Viper PST Gen ll 5-25x50 gets me out to 1000yds(with awesome coach/spotter).
Cool, thank you all. I’m looking at the 3x15 Gen2
Hope they're good...my PST GenII 3-15 arrives Saturday
I got a Crossfire I got from a member a few years ago that has never let me down...

I have a 20 power and no issues. For the price they are awesome. The next optic I want is the 6.5x25x 50mm.

I have a few of the vortex PST series. They are good scopes for the money. Just got a 3-15 to drop on my recently completed AR10 build.
Like CS said, plenty of others that make similar scopes in the same price range if vortex doesn't have exactly what you want.

I think the PST series offers a lot of features and quality for the money. They aren?t necessarily the highest end scopes, but you aren?t paying $2,000 either. Here is a review I did of the 3-15x I mounted on my Christensen Arms MPR.

Good video, thanks for the link.
I’ve heard good things about the new Meopta Optika 6 line of scopes.

I upgraded from a Strike Eagle to a Vioer PST 1-6 and so far I like it a lot.

You can find used 1st Gen Razor’s and Burris XTR II’s used on places like snipershide for equal or lesser price than a new Viper PST. Something to think about. That said, there’s nothing wrong with the PST’s. Great scopes for the money.

Why?
The reticle is easier for me to read. Using the BDC with the horseshoe from the Strike Eagle got a little confusing if I was shooting between 300-500 at anything but maximum magnification. With the MOA reticle I can make conversions what the MOA is at different magnifications for hold overs and such. I need to make a DOPE chart and I’ll feel comfortable from bayonet distances to 600y. With a SFP BDC reticle I don’t think I could pull that off as smoothly.
As for the glass quality I’m sure it better but I couldn’t tell you by how much. I wear glasses and they are slightly dirty 85% of the time so I always have a haze I’m looking through.

I have several different Vortex scopes and have been very satisfied with all of them. I find that they compare favorably to Leupold scopes.
