Im up here in Lakewood staying at the Sheraton on Union for a night to have surgery tomorrow. Im in the mood for either a steak or a good burger. Any suggestions?
Columbine Steak House on 3rd and Federal. It's a dive bar, but you won't be disappointed in the quality of steak for the price. Been a few years since I've been there, but they've been around for a long time so I don't imagine they are changing much.

Great suggestion, and they haven't changed at all. A dive bar, indeed, that gets their meat from the same supplier as Elway's (I've been told).
No steak, but I love burger/gyros at Nicks cafe. Cash only joint. Cool owner. Breakfast/lunch only.
Chads across the street from your hotel has a good steak.

The Keg Steakhouse off of Colfax or maybe Simms Steakhouse off of 6th Ave. I like the Keg more.

Chads on Union closed over a year ago.
It is being converted into a branch office for a bank.

The Keg had great steaks as well, just more normal prices for that level of quality. I want to say the one time I was there the steak was around $50. It was great though.

The Columbine is a dive but it's a good meal for the price. Don't expect them to care a lot about how you want your steak cooked, what type of salad you want or other sides. You pretty much get a steak that's cooked properly, for the most part, a piece of Texas toast drowned in butter a potato and a few pieces of lettuce that resembles a salad. Served cafeteria style and they like to keep things moving. It's been a while since I've eaten there but I think the whole meal was $9 at the time. Well worth that.

Since its been mentioned, I'm going to try Columbine sometime soon.
Last time I was at Columbine the most expensive steak was maybe $26 and it was the size of the plate.

We ended up at 240 Union. We came back to the hotel and I looked for Chads, but then found they were closed when I came back on here. I didnt feel like driving back to Columbine, though the thought was there. We definitely had more than 2 guns.
The steak at 240 Union was good, I got the wagyu flank which is one of the best flank steaks I have had. The price wasnt bad at $26, lots of taters and asparagus. The bread was amazing. Sadly, no drinks as the cutting begins at 0700.
240 Union is good to go. My parents used to go there a lot.

^^^Pretty much right. They?ve always nailed my steaks. Salad and sides? Whatever. Texas toast - you nailed it. Drinks are meh, but fitting. I only go for the steaks, anything besides making it out of the parking lot is a bonus.

In and out of surgery. Lasted about 2 hours, now I have a new partial knee. Now I just have to figure out how to walk so I can go home.
Good to hear. Probably will hurt like hell for a while, but now the healing begins. They'll have you up and about in no time.

Walked up and down the hall. Nurse got upset when she realized I was carrying the walker. No I have to pee before I can go. These nurses are so demanding.

Glad to hear it went well.
I just got cleared to return to work from my shoulder surgery today. Just in time to tell them I'm quitting and moving.
That's how the universe stays in balance. Somebody gets broken, somebody heals. Somebody goes to work, somebody quits.

Just be grateful that they didn't go into your abdominal cavity. Then they'll want a bowel movement too. [Coffee]

I already did the abdominal thing with an inguinal hernia. The next day it felt like I was kicked in the gut by a horse.
They released me at about 4 this afternoon. A quick stop at Cabelas and now we are in Pueblo. I picked up a nice litte Colt Huntsman 4" there yesterday for a great price. I almost went back today and got the Colt Challenger 4" as well, but decided I better be good.
The nerve block has worn off and Im a little sore now, but nothing like what the last 3 months jas been like.

So.... if any of you do decide to go to the Columbine steakhouse, I whole heartedly suggest that you skip the chocolate milkshake. Tastes like feet & I can only imagine how that could happen. Eeesh.
Steak was good for what it was & our waitress was super friendly.
Was meaning to ask you how it was. How are the prices now a days?

Well, last I was in a dedicated hockey arena (I can only assume it was) the aroma of feet was so strong that I swore I could taste the smell.
The milkshake tasted like the memory. Feet.
Also, I no longer have a reliable/functioning olfactory system so I have to go by memory.
