With a roaring economy and stock market, record low unemployment, etc etc etc., many if not most of us believe that Donald Trump will be re-elected in November. I do expect the republicans to hold the senate and dems to retain the house, but who knows? There has been quite a bit if speculation about who the republicans would run to replace Trump in 2024? Some think Pence, some think Cruz, some think some other Congresscritter. Certainly the establishment will pick someone from that group. However, my bet is on Don Jr. Trump for the outsider candidate - and I believe he will likely get the nomination. Trump will have had 8 years and 2 elections to learn the ropes and make Don Jr. a formidible candidate. Aside from the name and considerable help from his Dad's money and experience, Don Jr. is also learning the ropes. He is also a fighter - which the electorate badly wants/needs. In some ways, he is even more conservative than his Dad. He is visible in the media and getting good name and other recognition. Given 4 more years, I believe he would be ready to run - and right now would have my vote.

If for no other reason than his ego, I would expect Trump to run for re-election this year.

A Red Hat law will have to be passed to remove Trump. He's staying !!!! [ROFL2]

I plan to take it 1 election at a time and stay focused on 2020.

Agree with OP.
It will become obvious during the next term.
Unfortunately, the GOP will be more ready this time and do all they can to prevent a Trump Jr. run.
Would be nice to see Trump clear out the RINOs in his next term, but I know it won't ever happen.
The Uniparty will prevail.

Way too early to speculate on 2024 IMO, even though it's kinda fun. I can see the OP's Trump Jr thing playing out. But there are plenty of up-and-comers in the GOP besides him that might have a lot of appeal. Personally, I think Nicky Haley might be one...not an endorsement, just an observation.

Mitt Romney or Marco Rubio.

There will be a primary and then a convention to determine the candidate. And unlike the Democrat party, the actual members of the GOP will be the ones making the decision (well the active ones ... so that's not really most of them) ... so a lot of stuff to happen between now and then, anyone making predictions at this point are being silly (other than those predicting Pence since the incumbent VP has been the choice traditionally, so that's a safe bet)

Mitt Romney or Marco Rubio.

I doubt Mitt will become anything, based on his pushing for the impeachment trial , among his many Never trump crap. IMO Romney is looking to cement himself as McCains , reasonable, reach across the aisle, replacement.

Definitely putting the cart miles before the horse. Don Jr, btw, would have an uphill battle because all the never-trumpers would automatically rule him out; but then there's a slice of people that don't believe in inherited/dynastic presidencies. On top of it all, the one thing that may harm Trump's chance of re-election more than anything is a belief that he will be re-elected. Ironic, isn't it.

Looks like the trump rally crowd in NH last night had the same idea:

https://steadfastdaily.com/trump-rally-crowd-chants-46-seemingly-choosing-trumps-successor/

"Attendees at President Trump‘s rally in New Hampshire on Monday chanted “46” when he introduced Donald Trump Jr., embracing the president’s eldest son as a future candidate to follow his father into the Oval Office.

President Trump recognized roughly a dozen lawmakers and prominent conservatives at his Manchester rally, making his way to his children. He highlighted his daughter and senior adviser, Ivanka Trump, who joined him onstage. He then recognized his eldest son, who had spoken earlier at the event.

“Did Don Jr. make a good speech?” the president asked, prompting applause and chants of “46” from the crowd."

Count me in on that. Having a last name doesn't mean sheet when it comes to voting. If anything it's more of a negative. You can thank the bush, clinton families for that .

Too far away to speculate, a lot can happen in 4 years.

Pence would probably be on the short list.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't step back. If trump goes for the 2nd term.

His daughter...1st female president?

She polls almost as negative as HRC. NO FAMILY MEMBERS!

The real pressing issue is national security. A new Director of National Intelligence was just appointed. Richard Grenell is the appointee.
I'd prefer an appointee from the IC instead of a state department Ambassador to Germany. Preferably a 4 Star or the DCI. Space Force is operating more than 900 satellites in support of the Intelligence Community (IC).
