Happy to have them. But not happy that the city lets them keep $16m in sales taxes for coming here.

I visited the Scheels in Loveland once but honestly they aren't any better or different than Bass Pro or Cabelas..

except they have tons more powder, primers, and Dillon equipment, in addition to a complete line of 5.11 clothes, bikes, skis, shoes, and other general sporting goods (ball sports, etc.) They're certainly closer to Dick's than Cabela's, but their gun department/shooting/hunting/optics departments are on par with Cabela's.

Hopefully a little cheaper than Cabelas and BP.

Been considering getting a kayak. Maybe Scheel's will carry them as Bass Pro (in the Springs) surely doesn't (yeah, yeah..online...ptooie).

Sure, Dick's has them, but I'm not buying from them.

Already traded my kayak to a forum member last year.

Miss it.

They will price match online prices.

Scheels is truly "All Sport", not a common achievement among modern retailers.

That pisses me off everytime I gear about it.

If the market was worth their investment, let them fund it by themselves. Tax districts never get the return that's promised.

But if I want "All Sports", I can go to Gart's or Dick's... oh wait. Nevermind.

Scheels carries a lot more reloading components and equipment (including Dillon) than sportsman’s, BP/Cabelas or any other store I know. They also have a more extensive selection of optics. But we shouldn’t be giving them any tax breaks.

They're looking at it in a different context. Usually the most expensive thing about running a business is the labor costs. The city is looking at the number of jobs and the payrolls going out to those employees that finds its way back into the community. Getting those 'infusions' of business that improve the local economy is competitive.
