View Full Version : Census Arrived
So I filled out the silly survey.
They try to trick you into answering questions other than the number of people in the household.
If you dont answer a question, and hit next, it says the question needs answering. Just hit next again to move on.
Why does the government need to know my age, sex, race or if I own/rent the place I live? They don't!
3rd census answered in my life. 1st by mail, 2nd in person and now inet.
Never answered more than the # of people. I encourage everyone to do the same.

Got mine yesterday and I find it hard to take any mail addressed to resident seriously ???? Plus I just realized it directs you to do it on the internet, what about older folks who don't have that option ????
Once I heard it was going to be online, I was thinking, "Great. So much for having quality data."
Anybody remember the Obamacare website when it launched? Hacking the census is hacking elections. It's also theft of government funding.
The kind of people that came up with this plan are the same types that designed the new Colorado drivers licenses. Had to be someone under 40.

Surely you understand that if you provide that information you really aren?t telling them anything they don?t already know?

I didn't like the part where they asked how many guns I owned, what their serial numbers were and what time I went to bed.

I do; But why can't the census be done without gathering demographic information?
Its a matter of principle to not answer these questions used to divide the country into groups.
If you want amusement look at old census forms when they used to have people going door to door. The rate of spelling accuracy on names seems to be 10%. Even sex, ages, etc get bonkers. Sometimes the mistakes are outrageously bad, and I don't think it's from misinformation. It's more like (boston accent) How many people in da house and what names? (Irish accent) Aweyl, ya gotch jessuh, clien, hes abber grandpap cleear, lil sarreh, just'a'fortnight ol,.... (boston accent scribbles random shit) "Ok, thank you"
ETA: And seriously look at an old census folks, if we're offended about questions about sex, occupation, or own/rent, then ya'll need to time travel back 90 years and bitch to them too. I thought there was a plethora of additional questions beyond those actual census questions?
We did some ancestry shhhtuff and it was fun to look at the old census information. They gathered info like being a veteran of the Civil War, etc. On one census my great grandfather was listed as a "Servant" and his description was "Works on the farm".
Will this digital method be valuable to future generations? That depends on what information is allowed vs. what end-users populate it with.

They pay people like me $20.50 an hour to knock on their door and help them. I also going to get sent into the homeless camps. That should be fun.

Filled it out. And it's not good enough to just select "White" or "Black" or whatever, they want to know the deeper background. Considering my family has been the US since the 1500s, I put American. For my wife though, considering her family, honestly the best answer is "Unknown" so that's what I put!

You could have left it blank and hit next 2 times.

I was thinking the same exact thing when I filled mine out

Under race: Human?
The sex is just a check mark....they knew too many people would write "yes please."
The sex is just a check mark....they knew too many people would write "yes please."
Do they just have two boxes or are there a crap ton of them to cater to all those weirdos who don?t identify as male or female?
Only the two normal ones.
Well that will likely trigger some people.
And God bless America for only providing two options.
No benefit to misleading census info, IMHO. All sorts of ramifications. Say you and many others mislead your race....well now, EOA employers are going to have disproportionately smaller quotas of "your race" to fill - including caucasian - and ofc, talking larger scale misrepresentation. Zero benefit to not answering what is already known.

If you don't fill out the online version, they'll send you a print version. If you don't fill out the print version, they'll send someone to your house.
Did mine today. Required maybe five minutes. Nothing better to do today.
Just finished. I hope I get an "I Censused" sticker in the mail soon.
Joe Biden *was* a census.
