I have been using my old Lyman D7 loading scale forever. I have an M5 in excellent condition that has just been sitting on the shelf though. The M5 model is the one in the metal case with a plastic latching lid and is clearly marked Ohaus. The D7 doesn't have any other markings, just a grey balance beam marked Lyman.

The internet has told me the M5 is a top notch beam scale. I haven't found any comparisons of the two though. I think the D7 is plenty accurate, but I am curious if there are any scale gurus here that think one is clearly superior to the other. General opinions are welcome as well.

Edited for clarity - The M5 case is metal, the lid is plastic.
