Hi-Point Barrel Contained 35 Bullets, Why Didn?t it Explode? (https://www.alloutdoor.com/2020/03/30/hi-point-barrel-contained-35-bullets-didnt-explode/)

They gave him a brand-new barrel.

Wow. That's all I have...

Somewhere, there's a Hi-Point 45 carbine owner who 1) probably needs some firearms education and 2) has a very effective guardian angel.

Hi-Point recently posted a couple photos on Facebook, explaining that a customer had sent in a 4595TS 45 ACP carbine, telling them he was unable to hit a target with the firearm. The reason? His bullets were not even making it through the barrel!

The issue probably began with a squib round, an underpowered cartridge which lacked the oomph to propel the bullet all the way through the barrel.

His next shot should have ruined the gun. Most of the time, when a firearm is fired with an obstructed barrel, the barrel fails by rupturing in an explosive manner. But the Hi-Point did not fail.

The hapless shooter continued firing -- 34 more times! And the Gun. Still. Would. Not. Fail.

Wow.

Then, instead of chalking it up to firearms abuse and saying it wasn't covered under warranty, Hi-Point replaced the barrel and returned the gun.

Powder dropper jammed = 35 Squibs?

I think it took some force to jam those bullets together. Probably 1 squib and 34 normal cartridges. Blowback operated is probably why it survived being a grenade.

I think a few factors contributed to this.
1- shooter stupidity. Self explaining.
2- .45ACP, a relatively low pressure round. I doubt the same result would have occurred with a 9mm.
3- ductile barrel steel, flexed instead of fracturing.
4- blowback weapon, all of the overpressure simply leaked out of the breech end. This is probably a larger factor than items 2&3. This likely would have been a catastrophic failure with a locked breech weapon.

It not only didn't fail, it's not even noticeably bulged anywhere. I've seen something similar with another gun but can't recall what it was.

Powder dropper jammed = 35 Squibs?

Pfft. Yeah. Because lots of Hi-point owners are huge reloaders.

This is a perfect example of why many consider Hi-Point top tier.

About 20 years ago Dave's Guns had a revolver , .32 I think. Cut away like this. Magtech ammo. A friend did this with a .44 Mag too. That one swelled stuff and gave him a powder burn.
My take away is that it happens often enough. My guess is most modern steel is strong as heck.

High point says they are +P rated. And this is not the first time I've heard good a customer service story. A few years back I read article about the owner that was very positive. Almost as good as the owner of Henry. I don't need one, but I would buy one for a HiPoint for a relative in a second. My friend has one. He likes it.

Amazing how some outlets just rehash old news

When I was a dealer I can vouch for Hi-Point's excellent customer service.

Tier-1 Hi-Point. They could open a custom shop and call their guns "Tier-1". Fuckin' awesome!

Things must have been slow this week. [Coffee]

I must have been busy when BG posted that last year. I didn't remember it.

The year later recount didn't even pick up on the correction that this was a 9mm carbine.

Do they make them with a binary trigger, in the Yeet Cannon model?

The pistols work great for one round. Crapshoot after that.

I shot one (.45ACP) a friend of a friend brought out and it was a jam-o-matic POS.

My Sig mosquito ran better.

Yeah, no kidding.....I wonder if they included instructions or some other 'clue' to detect malf.

Ha! I knew I'd seen it somewhere. Mind like a steel trap. :)

This guy throws his HiPoint against a rock, the second shot after that broke the slide into 2. HiPoint maybe use decent steel for the barrels, but they sure use pot metal for the slide.
