Is there anyone close to COS that lives in an area that Rock Auto will ship to? I need to get some front strut assemblies for my Pilot and Rock Auto won't ship to a COS address any more.
Thanks.

Not what you asked, but I ended up using carparts.com and/or Amazon the last few times I had to order.
I tried a few different addresses in CO, including addresses not in the city. I don't think they ship to CO at all.

They ship to me, but I'm nowhere close to the springs.
They ship to non home rule cities. Or any city for which the state collects the taxes.
Could someone explain why they're not shipping to the 'springs?

The short story is Colorado made it a law that online retailers must collect both state and city taxes. Rock Auto decided they didn't want to play that game.'
Edit to add
Here is the error message I got back in Feb when I last needed to order something:
We cannot ship to this address because it requires sales tax paid separately to state and city governments. We comply with state-administered taxes nationwide but we do not have the capacity to file city tax returns in places where we have no physical presence.
Also, CO has a tax document that lists taxes for each county and city. I dont have a link to it anymore. If you find it it shows you which cities/counties are home rule, and which have state collect the taxes. Then look for one of those.
I always liked Rock Auto, but their shipping practices really started to highlight their other short comings. Namely, you CANNOT talk to a person about anything. Everything is done through the website. I have a return I wanted to send back because I no longer need it. I got an exchange instead as that was the option available.

This might be a complete list. It's the first thing I found.

Internet sales tax thingy becomes huge cluster f'k now.
City council and mayor's fault, not vendors.

We really should be calling our rep's and asking them to remove this burden to out of state retailers.

Colorado Springs collects more taxes by being a home rule city and the taxes stay within the city budget. If they opt to stop being a home rule city the current taxes given back to the city from the state would mean many of the city departments would have to lay off employees and cut services. Likely never gonna happen. BTW many businesses that sold online quit when they had to start collecting taxes for all the different tax areas. They almost needed to hire a tax specialist just for Colorado sales. Ask anyone who sell vehicles in Colorado the taxes are a PITA. Addresses even across the street have different tax rates.

If you know any one that lives or works outside the city limits, ship to them. I typically ship to a buddy's house with a Peyton address (Falcon) in Meridian Ranch. Works like a charm.
If you can't find anyone closer they will ship to Elizabeth.
I never understood the whole home rule thing, and how they are exempt from certain state laws and constitutional amendments.

Which is how they keep their prices so low. I got my last two shipments to an address of a friend out of the metro areas.

I live in unincorporated El Paso county, but COS is the other side of my backyard. PM me if you want to try my address. Not all sites respect that I am not in the city, but most do.
