Went out to the truck yesterday a.m. to start the Ranger up and when I went to open the door the handle snapped off !!!! I'm guessing the door was frozen and I was too aggressive trying to open it. Wish it had been the passenger side. Anyway I had to get to Soopers for a grocery pickup so I managed to get that done.
When I got home and did some research I was happy to see a new METAL handle was only $6 and after watching a few you tube videos on how to do it I think I can manage the repair as soon as it gets warmer. Now back to your regularly scheduled virus thread. LOL

I had an issue on my GMC. Tried to unlock it one morning (frozen), applied too much force, broke the cylinder. Fortunately it was on passenger side.

Still broken.

You just didn?t realize how strong you are.

They are better for sure. Unfortunately manufacturing what it is, they don't all go in as easy as some do.

Yeah I'm going to wait for a warm day and tackle replacing it for just that reason. I believe I have everything I need but I know Murphy's Law very well haha

This seems like one of those things that's easy to break, but when you take it to the shop to get it fixed, they want to charge you $800 for it.

Sombody's been eating their spinach. We're going to have to call him "muscles" now.

Luckily I don't have to deal with a window crank with my model Ranger.

Oh! Rich guy huh? Power windows.

Not when I'm driving a 2001 and it's probably my last vehicle haha

for mine it was a phillips and 15 torx to interior door panel. pop the plastic off of the window crank. Then pull out and lift up on the panel. once removed, there are a couple of plastic clips inside on the rod. be careful not to break them, they will be brittle. you will need to drill out the rivets, you can re rivet them or use a nut and bolt if thats what you have to refasten the door handle to the sheet metal.

One of my door the part just slipped right in, easy. A couple of the doors I had enlarge openings to get it to work. you will have your arm in the door up to your bicep and wont be able to see what you are doing very well.

Are they this kind of plastic clip? If so, I recently went through those and there is definitely a correct way to do them.

I took a picture tutorial on how to remove them without breaking them if you're interested Stag. Just takes some needle nose pliers.

Sure I'm interested in anything that would help. Thanks

One key is to ensure it's warm outside.... I've never had good luck working with plastic in cold weather.

And buy at least one of each color of plastic clips before starting the job, it will save you a trip to the auto parts store when one snaps during disassembly/reassembly.

I'll see if I can remember to post up a little later. Working on my truck, finally, right now.

"Photo tutorial" is generous, since there are only two steps. Heh. You want needle nose pliers, bent are even better. Working when it's warm is probably better, but I did this March 8th (I think it was like 40 degrees) and everything went okay as long as you pull the clips in the correct order.

First pop the base of the clip off of the shaft.

Then you can slide the shaft out of the clip.
