Is Front Sight Worth It?

Do we have any Front Sight members on the forum? I've been offered an Ambassador membership at a very significant discount from sticker price. This is one of their "Any class, any time, for life," memberships. I've heard good things about the facility and the instruction, like to hear it firsthand if possible.

I am a.. diamond member? I went once ten years ago and haven't been back. The handgun curriculum will take a brand new shooter to "reasonably good" in 2-4 days, and will be of benefit to someone who hasn't received a ton of training outside.

If you're in Vegas a lot or can get there cheap (and remember, Pahrump is easier to stay in and Strip hotels have anti-gun measures now), it's not a bad deal.

That said, the handgun curriculum is really Weaver-intensive (a criticism we joked about 9 years ago..) and it appears that's still the case. I believe they have bathrooms and sinks now.

Unrelated: I have a pet theory that Dr Ignatius Piazza is actually the name of the mustache, which has had a number of hosts through the years. The most recent of which is a chiropractor from southern California.

We go twice a year. With a group of veterans and church guys. Well written curriculum and it’s basic stuff, but that’s what most of us need.

They have loosened up on the Weaver stance, they teach it but if you use isosceles they leave you alone as long as you’re safe and hit the target. PM me an email address and I can give you a lot more info.... We have a fun time!!!

I'm a member--I don't recall which level, they keep jumping like a Ponzi scheme. It certainly is sound training in fundamentals. It's a helluva lot better than not receiving training, or thinking that a hunter safety class or marksmanship instruction someone received in the military 15 years ago is sufficient. When my son was a teenager I took him to the 4-day pistol and then 4-day carbine the following year. Those were good times--made even better by having friends come with. I have some buddies who are LEO and we use it as a "traincation" type of thing--lots of fun! I'm looking forward to making time to return for a shotgun course, or to bring my now-teenaged daughter, once Coronavirus lifts.

My son had certainly shot before and received instruction from me, but he improved significantly and has retained those skills (he's now 21). It's a solid grounding in the fundamentals, with lots of reps.

I agree. It really is a fun time and meeting like-minded folks is really nice. So far, I have really enjoyed their classes and hope to make it out there a couple times a year.

That's unfortunate, but may lay the ground work for big changes in management.

I met some clients out there for one the 2019 Shot Show Range Days. The facilities and infrastructure seemed top notch, but the vibe in the "pro shop" seemed a bit special.
