Today is a great day in history, it's Bobby Z's (zteknik) birthday and it's my grandson's 5th birthday.

Since it's his 5th birthday, and likely the first he'd really remember, my daughter wanted to have a big birthday party for him this year but COVID-19 had other ideas. So my daughter took a cue from online videos and decided that a Birthday Parade would be equally memorable.

If any of you are going to be in the Springs with nothing else to do tomorrow (Saturday, May 9) at 10AM, we'd love to have you participate in a Birthday Parade for my grandson.

The parade will be very near Constitution & Peterson roads. I'll provide specifics to anyone who's interested and PM's me (I'm at work until 8PM tonight so I may not be able to send you an immediate response, but it will be as quickly as I can get it out).

My daughter will be handing out cupcakes to any participant who wants one as they drive by. (Yummmm)

If you have a cool vehicle (military, LEO, Fire/EMS, hot rod, motorcycle, big construction vehicles, etc.) that a 5yo would find cool that would be awesome. The coolest thing I have to drive is my big red '05 Ford F250, so that's what I'll be driving - so anything is welcome. We understand that the local fire department will be joining as well as many members of a local Jeep club. Amen for such caring folks willing to help a kid have a great day.

My neighbors did this. We thought it was for the 6 year-old, but it was for the dad. Also, one day we heard what seemed like every emergency vehicle in the city all at once, and upon inquiry found out it was a birthday drive by.

Dang! The Pinz is still getting sorted out in the shop, or I’d bring it down. Happy birthday to your grandson!

Kids had a great time!

Easily the best kid’s bday party I’ve been to in a while.

Was glad to see none of the jeeps broke down on the parade route. [ROFL2]

I can't thank everyone enough. It was an amazing parade.

A local Jeep club showed up with upwards of 50 vehicles and the local Fire Dept showed up with a ladder truck, medic truck (ambulance), Chiefs truck and a standard fire truck....so dangled cool.

HUGE shout out to Hoser, CS1983 and 3beansalad. You guys rock!

My heart is filled with pride and joy.

CS1983, you have the cutest kids.

I should clarify that the pics above are my kids eating the cupcakes provided to the parade. The boys loved the opportunity to be out of their car seats and screaming out the van window. Hope it was a blast for the little Birthday Boy!

Hope it was a blast for the little Birthday Boy!

He was surprised (no one told him it was going to happen) but thrilled to death. He commented that he'd "never seen so many cars in my whole life" and felt really special that they were all there just for him. I believe he has a wonderful memory he'll have for the rest of his life.

The rest of us are humbled by the outpouring of love for this little man.

We had 120 cupcakes. The last 30 were store bought in case we didn't have enough. My daughter said there were about 34 cupcakes remaining after the parade. She kept the 4 homemade ones and my SIL and grandson took the 30 store bought ones and gave them to the Fire Dept. that joined the parade. It was a win-win.
