View Full Version : Snitches need Stitches!!!
I don't start many threads on this forum but I feel like this whole "Snitch on your neighbor" social justice warrior stuff is getting way out of control. The seemingly endless news stories of people snitching on others is mind boggling. Are people simply incapable of minding their own business anymore? Do people not realize that their "Opinion" really doesn't matter to others? Where have all of the repercussions gone for these snitches? How about we deploy a new rule/law that if you snitch on someone which turns out to be total BS, you get punched in the face by all involved?
The ignorance about all of the COVID19 sickness & social distancing effectiveness is appalling. Here is just one example of what I am talking about. I went to the grocery store a couple weeks back and didn't have a mask on. I stayed 6 feet away from everyone and while waiting in line, a lady behind me blurted out "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD COME IN HERE WITHOUT A MASK!!!". I turn around and she has a cart full of non-essential snacks and her nose if fully exposed above her mask. I replied with "I can't believe you think that wearing a mask over your mouth with your nose fully exposed is giving you any level of protection. How about you learn how to use your mask properly before chastising others for not wearing one?". "Better yet, how about you mind your own business before making an ass of yourself again?". She was totally taken off guard by me pushing back with facts against her unsolicited comments and got out of the line to walk away, because you know standing behind your convictions might actually take some effort, thought and courage. If the price for being a social justice warrior was a solid right cross to the chin then there would be a lot less of it happening. Snitches need Stitches!!!

I'm pretty sure I had COVID back in early February ... it was probably the mildest flu I've ever had (I ended up loading up a moving truck and driving 8-9 hours and then unloading it while dealing with this flu).
People demanding wearing masks are anti-Darwinist idiots that don't want us to get to herd immunity because they're afraid to have a mild fever for a couple days and a mild cough for a few days. Fuck these people.
Thing is, most of the masks people are wearing won't stop a virus. From what I understand it has to be an N95 mask. The paper ones most people are wearing will let viruses right through.
At best, they'll stop some of the spread if you sneeze or something.
And, of course, they will do nothing if you don't cover both your nose and mouth, like Cha-lee's girlfriend in the first post.

The masks with the vents actually accelerate the particles that pass through. Virus particles. And yet, we see people wearing them every day.
almost every mask I see is worn wrong or there are huge gaps. It?s funny how many people think it?s doing something.

I've worn a mask a total of one time in public. It was at the license plate office. It was required for entry.
I don't want to get sick. I use common sense to minimize my exposure to possible illness. It's worked perfectly thus far. Maybe I've just been lucky.
I don't like this "new normal" bullshit we're seeing in regards to this virus. I want to be able to go to a restaurant. I want to be able to go to a movie once a year or so without worry over dying from some virus. I'm tired of my life being controlled by people and things beyond my control. But I also understand no one gives a shit what I want, and just because I want something doesn't mean I'm going to get it.
So, for now, I'll just continue to be the general anti-social semi-hermit that I've been for that past 2 or 3 months.
I wore a mask a few times early on before any facts were out. More so to make those around me feel more at ease and not trigger them. Even then it was only in the grocery stores.
I am no longer wearing a mask anywhere. Why? Many reasons but my current mindset is that the more people see those around them returning to the "old normal" and going about their business like we have forever then the sooner everyone will start acting normal again and we can all move forward as a society.

Some of you are mixing up the reasons for wearing a mask. N95 or better are needed to protect the wearer who is servicing known or possibly infected individuals (and even then is not 100% protection). Other masks don't protect the wearer so much as protect everyone else from the asymptomatic wearer who may be shedding virus particles. This is not VX -- you don't die from getting a single particle. The issue early on was to slow the rate of transmission so it didn't spread so rapidly that it overwhelmed the healthcare system.
You can argue whether that precaution was necessary or whether in fact it worked as intended but most of the country is at a different stage from where we were in February/March.

OP promoting violence? Nice...
Would have loved to see that.
Technically, making snarky remarks, without calling anyone in authority is not actually "snitching." Had said person in line behind you called someone in authority about your lack of mask, she could possibly be accused of "snitching" but IMO, her behavior would have been more Karenesque.
BPTactical has been involved in situations like this in the past, if my memory serves me. I am often not quick witted enough to respond in these situations but fortunately my hearing has degraded so much over the last thirty years that I have perfected the "what did you say and why should I care" stare.
If the owner of the property requires a mask, wear the mask. If there is no requirement and you choose not to wear one, carry on. God Bless the Republic!
Be safe.

I?ve spent a few hours in restaurants and bars the past few days. I?m an observant person. Let?s just say that if they think the new ?rules? for restaurants are going to stop or slow the spread, they are fooling themselves. Pull an infected beer bottle off of the table only to grab a fresh one out of the cooler and serve it to another patron. Boom. Done. Not 1 waitress, bartender changed gloves after each touching of something a patron had used. Nor did they sanitize their hands. It is a false sense of security that so many people are falling for.
Corona discussions have their own section. There's even a sign up there, and it doesn't require anyone to wear a mask.
Just got back from Home Depot. Most were wearing masks, employees have to. I didn't notice anyone being a jackass toward me, but perhaps that's because I don't care what other people are doing. When I'm looking for stuff and navigating aisles or hallways, I'm usually just doing the basics, like quick threat assessments. I'm not trying to figure out the color of their eyes or if their brow is creased.
My new neighbor works for the fire department and at Home Depot part time. I was in the fastener aisle trying to maintain 6 feet while people were oblivious to the fact they were clogging aisles. I was holding my breath as I passed a group of people being helped by a Home Depot employee wearing a mask and ballcap who says, "How are you doing, sir?" I said "Good" and kept walking. He later approached and asked about my GSD and pulled his mask to the side and I said, "Oh, howdy neighbor. Didn't recognize you wearing your disguise." ;-)
I said it quite some time ago. What color is the ribbon that shows other people you care about the Covid? I'd rather just virtue signal by wearing the ribbon pin than an ineffective mask that's probably more of a risk to its user. When someone says I don't care about other people, I can just point to the pin.
With my middle finger.
Standard ops early in socialist/authoritarian regimes. Get people tattling on neighbors so nobody feels they can trust anyone. People are less likely to publicly stand up to authoritarianism if they are constantly in fear of everyone around them. We’re just being conditioned. The snitch hotline to report your neighbors was up and running the moment Der Fuhrer Polis announced his lockdown.

In light of CStones post-
The correct response when confronted about no mask is: "I'm going with option #1, which is social distancing. So go away*."
*Note- utilize appropriate terminology for the setting, mood and ambiance you wish to project at the time. Extra points shall be issued if the complainant is female and or resembles one and you utilize the code name "Karen"
That reminds me. The list of those snitching, including their email addresses, and the people they were snitching on, was made publicly available in WA state. Pretty funny to see people ratting on businesses and others questioning why such-and-such business was deemed "essential", while using a work email address from that business. I guess they wanted to get paid staying home instead.
ETA: Edited for clarity
I guess they wanted to get paid staying home instead.
Can?t say I fault them for that. I think anyone who gets the option to get paid and not have to go to work should take it.

Like the US House of Representatives?
Ha. Yeah. I guess so. Well now I feel stupid for my comment.

If a business owner is requiring you to wear a mask to enter their establishment, they better be handing them out at the door. Or The City or Government entity mandating masks better be handing them out to everyone.

Why?
No shirt, no shoes, no mask no service.
Those first two restrictions have been in place by many private businesses for decades with nary a complaint.

I?ve noticed this too, but at drive through and carry outs when they are handling people?s cards and or cash and bagging purchased items at convenience stores after they are handled by customers.
Think of the astronomical costs of sanitizing supplies & gloves for each business if the protocols were properly followed.

Meh, I figure it's their business, their rules. If I don't wanna wear a mask, I can go elsewhere. Performance Cycle has a pretty good stance: they have a sign on the door that states masks are not mandatory, and are not worn by staff, but if a customer wants to wear one, they can. If a customer isn't comfortable with that, they can leave.

This is theater. There's been no proof from day 1 that keeping everyone home but still allowing them to go to grocery stores and "essential" locations would solve anything. The doomsayers will claim victory even if doing nothing would have a similar effect.
There's not a whole lot of point in wearing a mask right now, but businesses should have the choice to do whatever the heck they want. Outside of rejecting people for their skin color, if they post signs that e.g. say "only people wearing Green on St Patty's day can enter!" I'm not going to be offended if they aren't handing out green T-Shirts. It's annoying to get turned away when you plan a trip, but vote with your wallet if that's the case. Asking that businesses be either denied or forced to do something.. uh, quite progressive of people here. What's absolutely insane is there's a not insignificant number of security guards/clerks/etc. that have been assaulted or outright murdered just for asking people to comply with the store policy.
Once we get into late October, if you live around at risk adults then would be the time to consider wearing a GOOD mask again when heading into large groups of people (e.g. grocery store). It really does help against this, influenza, any other respiratory diseases. Surface contact isn't a major risk factor/transmission for Corona virus or other major respiratory diseases for that matter. Not much of a reason to be concerned about a clerk touching merchandise. On the other hand, if Norovirus is cycling though, you might want to Clorox wipe all that shit and watch what your waiters touch. That one IS surface contact and has such a low viral load / super high rt that if a sick person touches your stuff, you're all but guaranteed to be filling two buckets at the same time in a day or two. Of interesting note, Mesa County had a "norovirus" pandemic around October of 2019. Extra shitty to have a restaurant there even if they did reopen sooner, because they've gone through two extended slow/no business pandemics in under six months.
In recent weeks I?ve tried to see if the business I am entering has a sign posted on the door.
No sign, in I go.
One sign asked me to maintain distance from others while inside. I?ll do my part to obey.
I haven?t been anywhere yet with a sign saying I had to wear a mask in their store but I?d likely just go elsewhere.
I've been to two businesses that are requiring masks. Thought I'd surprise my wife with Fuzzy's tacos but didn't have a mask with me so I had to go borrow hers which kinda ruined the surprise. The other place was Echter's and I really needed dirt.
My biggest problem with wearing a mask is that I'm one notch above needing sign language to communicate. It's frustrating but I make do.
To get back on the thread topic, it has been a real struggle not to call my neighbors in, not for COVID reasons but for city ordinance violations. Between the houses that let their yards return to native, noxious weeds and the house that had someone living in a Winnebago in the driveway, it's been something.
