I have been looking at them and doing research for a while, since I got the big bore bug.

I really want a .375 H&H but the cost of a new rifle I will rarely shoot is not worth it.

The price of the .450 BM ammo is reasonable compared to socom and beowulf, considering I don't handload and likely wouldn't shoot it often.

I like the idea of an upper assembly that I can swap with ease. Go from pew pew to BOOM BOOM!

What brand should I be looking at? I have seem then as low as $225 for a complete upper assembly.

Or a better question is there a brand or manufacturer I should avoid?

They?ve come down a lot if the $225 is accurate.

I have a nice Moriarti Arms complete upper I tired to sell 6 or 8 months ago with no takers. I don?t know where she (the owner) gets her barrels but it?s stupid accurate at 100 yards. I would buy from them again.
I like the cartridge and I?m pleased with what I got from Moriarti. I was selling it because I need to simplify and could use the spot in the safe. And I don?t really *need* a .450 bushmaster.

I can?t upload a pic from this tablet for whatever reason, but I?ll edit when I get to my pc. Just a picture of the groups it gives me with the loading data.

Edit to add - I also had excellent success modifying magpul 5.56 mags to work reliably with the .450 cartridge.

I bought one from Bear Creek Arsenal. It was $240 complete. Waiting on ammo to show up then need to find somewhere to shoot it. May go down to Dragonman's next week, even though I live across the street from Cherry Creek. $22 plus a parks pass is too expensive.

Risking your life to hang out with gang bangers and give Mel $$$ is not worth it.

Hah! The two times I’ve been to Bernstein’s in the last 20 years I haven’t had any safety concerns. My issue is giving money to Mel.

I don't know what that means. I take it Mel is Dragonman and the place has sketchy characters hanging around? What's wrong with Mel that you refuse to give him your business?

I have never been down there.

Buckle up buttercup. Mel has a history pissing people off that lasts decades and goes all the way back to New York, and he killed his wife, and, and, and,

That's just what I've picked up from posting on here. I've never been there either.

There's a lot to unravel here. If you go to the range enough, you'll figure it out eventually.
First interesting thing, he's a felon. I don't have an issue with that, but it's worth noting. His wife held the ffl. I looked it up after she was killed, but I don't remember which random relative has it now.
Both of them had short memories, it was always a "what have you done for me lately" scenario, and holy crap could Mel fuck up a deal like no one I've ever met.

He was incapable of submitting NFA paperwork, embarrassingly so. The few people I know who've tried to go through him eventually had to cancel the transfer and start over through other SOT's.

We used to come out and set up for every machine gun shoot he did. The last one we participated in was sometime in the late 90's. It's expensive, Mel makes a lot of money off it, and he was always an asshole about it.

and on and on and on...

With that said, I've been to the range twice since then, the last time about a decade ago, and never had any issues. The range nazi mostly left me alone while he monitored the banger's at the other end. But I went to Rampart Range every weekend for 12 years and never had an issue. So maybe I'm just lucky. Or loud and unafraid to reprimand.

Anyway, give us a range report when you go!

The hornady black is very accurate in mine. For what it's worth.

Tromix.

They work. It's all we recommend in the big bores at the moment at the shop.

If a liberal took a shit and poked a hole through it, that would be a BCA barrel. Don't fucking do it.

Interesting analogy.

Where were you a month ago when I posed the question?

I'd like to know if you ever put your rifle together and got it sighted in as well. Got a report?
