Anyone have any words of experience to share? Are there 'obstacles' on the running sections? Any tips?
Steady wins the race.
Dont go balls out on the first couple events. Pace yourself.
There were a few obstacles between shooting events. Monkey bars and a wall to climb over. Maybe some other things.
Know exactly where your slugs hit from 30-100 yards.
Get a good fitting pack that stays put while you move/jog/run. Mine fit really good until I put a dozen fully loaded AR mags in it and a handfull of Glock mags.
Mike and his staff did a great job. When I got back to work after the match I was totally smoked. The sled drag just killed me.
This year event will be a 2 gun only, no shotgun needed. It will be a 5k only, no 3k option. The obstacles are not particularly difficult but trying to shoot a simple course of fire when you are gassed is difficult. Like Hoser said, keep us steady.
Scoring is 50% run time and 50% shooting, so take a 30 second cool down on you run time before you jump directly into a shooting stage.
I ran my regular 18 rifle and full size pistol, rifle strapped in a pack vs slung which I think was easier. I also wore a battle belt with pistol and Ammo well distributed. I will do the same this year. If running armored then sling rifle and pistol on the belt looked to be the better option. For Ammo load, pay close attention to the required round counts and don’t bring pounds more then you need. Also water available along the route so no need for a camelback. Plan to stay for the day, the prizes take time afterwards and everyone just hung out and had some beers.

Is it Virginia Count?
Is it Virginia Count?
Last time I dont recall anything being virginia count.
Last year no VC, all shooting stages were time plus. I think you can skip a obstacle for a time penalty and prize draw is based on tickets earned via obstacles and placement.
