Anyone else go see this yet ? Very dark heavy movie. I've read the book a few times (hard read first time) and wonder if a viewer hadn't read the book would they be able to follow it. The movie actually did a good job following the book but definetly not for everyone, especially kids.
Haven't seen it yet but it looks awesome!

I downloaded a sample of the book from Amazon. I found the quote-less style very difficult to follow. The movie does sound interesting, though. I'm sure the wife has it on her NetFlix list.
I thought the movie looked interesting until I read the book, and then the thought of seeing it onscreen was no longer appetizing. Just so incredibly doom and gloom.

This could one day be our future. Yep. I have read the book and will probably see the movie when I get back from Fl.
This is that Viggo Mortenson flick right?
Is the book of the same title? I thought it looked like another version of The Stand to me. That was just from watching the one preview though.

Correct:same book/movie but entirely different from The Stand. This is in a post disaster of some sort setting.

Looking forward to seeing it. I'm pissed because of fucking Twilight it's only in a couple tiny theaters around Denver.
This could one day be our future.
To me, the interest factor is different because it is not a survivable future. It's not about tough times and struggle to survive and rebuild civilization or somesuch, but about the end of all life. Ultimately it was just depressing. Just my opinion...

In general I do not like "We're fucked, lets read about it for 200 pages / look at it for 2 hours" type stories. I go to fiction for inspiration, not depression. If I want depression I can read the news for 2 hours, for free.

I think you are referring to Invictus (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1057500/) , the movie about Nelson Mandela that stars Morgan Freeman and was directed by Clint Eastwood (it also has Matt Damon).

You'll see the difference if you see it.
I'm sure I will. Just giving you a hard time. :)
