WTF is happening in Seattle?

What are the legal ramifications for citizens taking action against a group such as this when the government won't? Can you use deadly force on someone detaining you at a checkpoint on your way to or from your home? Especially if they are armed as shown in some of these pictures?
Are these anarchist trying to poke the bear and start a new civil war? One of which they will be severely outgunned in.

Seems like to do what they are doing they would have to renounce their citizenship, therefore losing their Constitutionally protected rights, therefore making them an armed foreign state trying to take American soil. tried to start a garden in the street with a bag of dirt

I'm on a forum up there so I've been following this pretty closely. The 'progressive' government up there is very forgiving of the shenanigans. I would be hesitant as a citizen living in the CHAZ trying to push back against the militants holding the area. I wouldn't expect the government to do anything but prosecute you.
When his highness, Gov. 'the snake' Inslee was asked about the CHAZ, he said he hadn't heard of it.
One of the funniest tidbits I've read was related to the Antifa folks asking for a resupply because the homeless people in the CHAZ had stolen their food and water.

Interesting take and I'm interested to see where this goes. But these folks are leaching off the "esteblishment" that they claim to detest so much. Yup. Everyone is a hero in their own mind - and pretty much every position is justifiable from a unique perspective.
Controversial case in point: An SS officer could've carried a belief that through genocide, there would be fewer deaths going forward into perpetuity because racial conflicts would've ceased. If they had succeeded, there might have even been a small aspect of truth to that - note of course, that I find everything about what they did abhorrent, as it is playing "god". Still, history is written by the victor, and an individual can rationalize anything to be positive if they just shine a light from the right perspective.

IMO, give 'em partially what they want: Sell them the park and the police building cheap, process their citizenship revocations per all standard procedures, set up a border with checkpoints for ingress/egress and passport control. Also add them to the persona non grata list and bar their entry to the US. Let them figure out how they'll structure their economy then let them stew. If they don't like that, buy a cheap ship or grab one from the National Defense Reserve Fleet and board them all then tell them to head out 12 miles or so off-shore so they are no longer in US waters and give them the full "Man Without a Country" treatment.

I'm not so sure that Denver is too far behind Seattle. From the news footage that I saw from the Denver city council meeting last night, I'm starting to think that the "MOB" is figuring out that they, as a large group, can do what they want, when they want, where they want, with no repercussions. Something that people often forget is that the police and justice system protect the criminal element just as much, if not more, than the general populace.
If they take the measures desired by these groups, like defending the police department etc., the general populace no longer has any restraint in determining when and how to defend themselves. Crime might be slightly higher, but then again, more people would be armed, and things like robbery would have a much higher rate of fatality on both sides of the isle - it would make things chaotic, but it would also make "crime" carry far more immediate risk. Even if you so much as start to graffiti a wall.... Some crazy bastard might shoot you for it. Who is going to arrest them? If you're jurisdiction has severe penalties for owning firearms..... what is actually going to restrain the good guys from having whatever-the-hell-they-want tucked under the counter of their business?
I've been thinking that the timing of Officer Greg Anderson's anti-rights violations video during Covid video was impeccable. Had he done it and then all this kicked off a few days later, his message would have gotten lost and he wouldn't be looking at a GoFundMe worth way more than being a Port Authority police officer.
It was like deciding to get out of stocks to invest in something less volatile a few weeks before the big crash in '29. No way he could have known, it just worked out for him. Couldn't have happened to a better guy, either.

He was always gone before 5pm. Probably needed to eat dinner at 4:30 and be in bed by 5:30.
