View Full Version : Boulder Range
So it looks like the expansion of the Boulder Gun Club range is coming up for discussion with the powers that be. Comments are open until July 16th. Suffice to say Shannon Watts (now a Boulder County resident) and her orange-shirted followers will be out in force.
Emails should be sent to planner@bouldercounty.org and copied to the troica (ejones@bouldercounty.org, commissioners@bouldercounty.org, mjones@bouldercounty.org). Important to include SU-19-0009 in the subject line.
Mtneer, do you have a link to recent information about this? All I can find is an article from August 2019. Are you a member of the Boulder Rifle Club? I'm willing to write supporting an expansion. I sometimes drive by the north range west of Longmont but it might be closed. Any information about it?
I was a BRC member in the '80's. I donated and made the concrete for the indoor shooting range. Sadly, I dropped my membership when I moved to the western slope. Now that I live in Boulder County, I'm interested but not in a long wait.....
Alas, I got this info by lurking on Nextdoor. Apparently the county sent out a notice to people in the area. I think this is just expansion of the range north of Boulder, which of course has the antis swarming.
Never joined BRC because the wait time was so long (told a decade when I first looked). But the closure of nearly everything forced the County to consider all options. It's all part of the Forest Service, multi-county search for soluttions. What they settled on was expansion of BRC and opening and least parts of it to the public. So if this passes, non-members will have a place to shoot.

I applied in 85, was contacted in 97 to see if i was still interested.
By then i was a member at WCFW.org. Took 3 days for them to return a call, had to wait till their renewal period, to see who didn't renew. At that time it was $50 per year and limited to 1k members.
They are proposing a major expansion at their main range just outside Boulder. They are expanding all of the ranges and adding shotgun/clays. Think they are expanding the indoor range as well.
I think this link details it all (I can't see it as I don't subscribe to the Daily Camera and I have hit my 5 articles a month limit.

Saw this the other day. Looks like they got $388k.

"Daily Camrade"
LOL.
Well. I didnt read the entire articles, but I hope they open more days to public range and lower the cost.

This battle will pit virtue signaling progressives in the mountains versus virtues signaling progressives on the plains. The default is that the defacto ban on all public land shooting in the Boulder County mountains is delayed a bit.
This sounds crazy, but I even miss Left Hand Canyon.
