I just read about the comet NEOWISE that's passing by earth. Apparently it's visible in the pre-dawn hours just above the northeastern horizon. By the middle of the month it will transition and be visible in the northwester sky in the evening hours.

Gonna take a look early tomorrow morning and try to find it. From what I've read it helps to have good binos.

Pre-dawn? The sun is up at like 530.... I'm NOT into getting up at 4 to see shiny space balls. Gonna have to wait for the evening swing.

Because sunrise was at 5:38 this morning, and close to that yesterday. Not diverse enough for me.

I hear rumors of a sequel already. The Wakening part 2

Yeah, I want to see it even though the GF said it wasn't much to look at.

I was out looking this morning since I was up anyway. Couldn't find it. Not sure I have a clear enough view of the NE horizon thru my neighbor's house/barn.

Bright comet Neowise coming to an evening sky near you: How to catch it (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/bright-comet-neowise-coming-to-an-evening-sky-near-you-how-to-catch-it/ar-BB16pr78)

The best time to view the comet from the surface of Earth is currently shifting from the early morning hours to the evening.

According to NASA solar system ambassador Eddie Irizarry, it'll start to be visible in the evening around July 15-16. It should be a little easier to see during the second half of July when it's higher in the sky.

Right now, the advice being shared by many of those who have successfully spotted the comet is to first locate it in the sky using binoculars or a telescope. Once you've found it and its trademark split tail, you should be able to then track it with the naked eye.

It sure isn't a Hale-Bopp event, sorta a snap pop of comets.

Every morning and evening sky has been cloud covered at my place since the Fourth. I have been looking for the comet with no luck. Guess monsoon season does that.

Went out last night about 10:30 to look for NEOWISE. Once I got away from town I could see it as I was driving, but only in my peripheral vision. It was very faint. Looking directly at it took more time to find it. Once I stopped and looked at it thru the binos it was pretty fantastic. The tail must be millions of miles long, stretching across probably 10 deg of sky.

From my location it's almost due NW and about 10 to 15 deg above the horizon. When I got back home I could see it from my front porch, but just barely. It's just to the left of a streetlight across the street and the light washes out most of the sky. But once I knew where to look I could see it.

I think this is the 3rd comet I've seen. Haley's, Hale-Bopp and this one. Very cool. Worth taking a look if you have time.

Saw it from Taylor Reservoir last week. It was visible from like 0400-0430. Butt cold up there, all our water froze every night. Couldn’t capture it with my crappy cell phone camera while shivering

Taken from the Spruce Mountain Open Space Trailhead (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Spruce+Mountain+Open+Space+Trailhead/@39.1668977,-104.8872532,12.5z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x876caf95d4f0f49f:0xfdc7f87a5b8c0 fdf!8m2!3d39.1678427!4d-104.8744167), south of Larkspur. I was amazed to see the color in the head of the comet. If you look closely at the second picture, you can see the twin tails.

Pictures untouched by Photoshop, just brightness and contrast tweaking.

So you captured a UFO too, huh? Whats with those 4, equally spaced lights, low-center? Are they part of the StarLink thing or was that a very short time lapse photo or what?

I was able to see it a few nights back, 23rd maybe, about 11 PM. The clouds had parted just enough for me to get a good look through the binoculars. I was glad to finally get it spotted, but haven't been able to see it since. It was crystal clear last night, but I was unable to find it before I went to bed.

Cool pictures. The green head on it is amazing. I certainly didn't see that through the bino's.

Several second exposure, that was a plane with its blinking anti-collision light.

We saw it several clear nights when we were down at Navajo State Park south of Durango.

Pretty cool to see.

I suspect it was a short time lapse picture, but it’s fun to speculate.

Long exposure. Time lapse and long exposures are completely different things.

A few nights ago the wife and I got out on the deck and were able to see it at about 10 pm. BUT what we saw wasn't nearly as spectacular as the above pics. as we were only using my 10X bino.
