View Full Version : New PC NFL team name suggestions

I gave up on these clowns a few years back for obvious reasons, I used to be a huge follower. Not anymore.

Anyway, I'm guessing that more than a few team names will be changed as the owners (OWNERS will also be changed) cower and succumb to the lunatic left agenda. Too sad.

I'd like to start with a suggestion for the new Washington Redskins name, The Washington Kneelers.

This could spawn off another thread on renaming certain Colorado landmarks, per Gov. Polis's geographic name change crap.

Should the Yankees change their name too?

Zundfolge

The solution is simple, eliminate team names altogether. Just refer to the teams by their cities (of course half of those will have to change) ... and then anyone that considers themselves a patriot should find some other past time.

I'm curious... Do the people who think if we appease and coddle and grovel and change enough sports team names and tear down enough statues that eventually we'll get to a magical point where the anarchists and radical, leftist blacks and other triggered assholes are just, at some point, going to say, "Oh, perfect. That's good. You've done enough. We're over it now."?

It's just ridiculous. It's like they're trying to get to a point where no one (and by "no one", I mean those on the left) will be offended by any word, action, symbol, hand gesture, color or anything else. I can't imagine how stupid you need to be to think that way.

None of these teams should change their names.

All of these names are there to honor history. Many times in history the victor would honor the loser for a battle well fought. The Vice President used to be the guy from the other party that lost the vote for the presidency.

Don't say that! I wouldn't find 95% discounted clearance cakes from Kroger after what I assume are big games...

I am glad that the pro sports has fallen out of cultural peer pressure in the last 20 years or so. E.g. Everyone used to have a chip on their shoulder / common theme about watching the superbowl, Now ironically everyone has a chip on their shoulder about not watching the superbowl and acts like they're a special minority that isn't glued to a TV [they may not realize the worlds turned almost ten thousand times since the 90s]...

People giving a shit about pro sports are long since a minority. That said, I do respect other cultures/interests - not talking about all this racial crap, just the fact that I know a lot of people do care deeply about "the game" and I like them to be able to continue doing what they do while I keep doing what I do, ofc I know we're all on the same page there.

They generally don't have that option. They are after all still franchises and as such the owners are beholden to corporate policy. So if you wanted to fold your team you'd be forced by the franchise agreement to sell it to someone who would just follow the dumb policy.

The problems with the NFL start at the top, not with the kneeling idiots on the sidelines.

Actually, now is the time to unload a team if you owned one because I suspect in the next year or two the NFL is going to lose significant value.

Don't blame it on Dan Snyder (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Snyder). People have been protesting and lobbying against this Washington Redskins since about 15+ years ?
I remember about 5years ago, Franchisee Dan even got Native Americans Backing the Washington Redskins name?

ALthought Dan Snyder is an idiot, I seriously do not blame him for changing the name. 20 years of this protest headache.
Imagine 1000s of people comes upto you for 20 years and keep telling you to change your name to "Dick" or "Gaylord" [LOL]

FROM WIKI

Native American opinion in support of Redskins name
See also: Washington Redskins Original Americans Foundation
Three Virginia Indian leaders said in 2013 that they are not offended by the name Redskins but are more concerned about other issues such as the lack of Federal recognition for any Virginia tribe.[b][170] Robert "Two Eagles" Green, retired chief of the Fredericksburg area Patawomeck Tribe, stated on a radio talk show he would be offended if the team changed its name.[171] In an article in The American Spectator, the current chief of the Patawomeck Tribe, John Lightner, said that while he was not offended by the current name, he would support changing the team to the Washington Potomacs.[172]

On November 25, 2013, as part of the NFL's "Salute to Service" month and Native American Heritage month, the Washington Redskins recognized four members of the Navajo Code Talkers Association briefly during a commercial break. One of them, Roy Hawthorne, has stated, "My opinion is that's a name that not only the team should keep, but that's a name that's American."[173][174] This action was criticized by Amanda Blackhorse, also Navajo,[175] and described as a publicity stunt.[176] In April 2014, Navajo Nation Council voted in favor of a statement opposing the name of the Washington team, as well as other disparaging references to American Indians by other professional sports franchises.[107] Later that year, members of the Navajo and Zuni Tribes and students from the Red Mesa Redskins High School attended a Redskins vs. Cardinals game as guests of the Washington team.[177]

In 2014 the Redskins released a two-minute video on YouTube entitled "Redskins is a Powerful Name" in which several Native Americans express their support for the team. Of the fourteen individuals, five are members of the Chippewa Cree tribe on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation in Montana and are associated with the Team Redskins Rodeo club. Two are Mike Wetzel and Don Wetzel, Jr. (Blackfeet), descendants of the logo designer, and the six others are members of various tribes and state that they are fans of the team and find nothing wrong with the name, or think it is positive.[178][179][180] One of the individuals in the video is Mark One Wolf, who was reported as being born Mark E. Yancey in Washington, D.C., of African-American and Japanese descent.[181]

I disagree. Mostly because the left has never said, "OK...that's enough gun control." And, for the most part, the left hasn't been all that successful in implementing their gun control agenda. I'm talking in an overall sense...not in specific locations. Legislatively I'll take our record over theirs for the last 20 years. I think all things considered and with the massive, unending assaults they've put forth, the pro gun side hasn't done too badly.

The 'Skins haven't had a good season since Mark Rypien priced himself out of the QB position. They should just go ahead and rename themselves to the Washington Billaries and be done with it.

I stopped following professional sports after I got back from Korea. The NFL became Nincompoops, Felons, and Losers where guys threatening their own teammates were protected while the league made up reasons to get rid of guys who acted according to their religious beliefs. Cities were held hostage by professional teams (not just in football) to get new stadiums, tax write-offs, etc. then saw those teams leave anyway. Eff them all.

No apology necessary. I was just sharing what I've heard/read about it. This is a collaborative effort. ;-)

An article from today:
Washington owner Dan Snyder responds to allegations of sexual harassment: 'No place in our franchise or society' (https://www.foxnews.com/sports/washington-owner-dan-snyder-sexual-harassment)

Snyder hired a local law firm to review the team’s culture and conduct, which he said will allow the team to implement new policies and procedures.

“Beth Wilkinson and her firm are empowered to do a full, unbiased investigation and make any and all requisite recommendations,” his statement read. “Upon completion of her work, we will institute new policies and procedures and strengthen our human resources infrastructure to not only avoid these issues in the future but most importantly create a team culture that is respectful and inclusive of all.”

In the late 1890's, the University of Nebraska nick-named their football team the BUGEATERS, after the Bull Bat (winged rat) that ate bugs. I am offended by this name despite it being un-used for over a hundred years and demand some kind of justice and reparation. Also, a bunch of old bats have claimed the team coaches suggested they wear tiny short dresses when they flew around the field but that's another story.
