Rimfire Challenge format with a couple tweaks,* held at the Pikes Peak Gun Club (https://pikespeakgunclub.org/), East of Colorado Springs.

This is designed for shooters who'd like a no-pressure introduction to competition, but seasoned shooters will notice no difference between it and normal steel matches, so come out as well!

It's gonna be a smaller match than last year due to COVID, but dang it, we're not going to let the kung-flu win!

Format is four stages, three runs a stage, best two runs are used for score.

Our major divisions are men/women, optic/iron sights and rifle/pistol. We also have age groups.

The Rocky Mountain State Games likes to hand out a LOT of medals, hence all the divisions!

For more information and to register, please see: http://www.coloradospringssports.org/shooting/

There is day-of registration, but it's $10 more. I think online registration closes Wednesday, July 15th.

If you have any questions you can ask them here or send me an email at shooting@nankoweap.com

* Rimfire Challenge rule tweaks: Three runs instead of five and pistol and rifle are separate matches.

Unfortunately I already had family obligations by the time the date was announced/confirmed. Had fun last year, and was looking forward to going back.

Good luck to all who can attend. Nice fun 22 steel match.

Rocky Mountain State Games shooting event 2022 update:

It looks like there's a good chance that shooting will be back in 2022 at the Rocky Mountain State Games. Not a done deal, but likely.

Even though we were able to hold the games in 2020, mid-plandemic, they were cancelled for 2021 when the Sports Corp got a new leader at the helm.

Now there's a new, new leader and some of the old staff has returned (that should give you a hint), we've opened talks with the new leadership about the shooting venue.

Due to its past success, there's no plan to change the format, which is Rimfire Challenge "lite". Because the goal is to get people into competition, we don't run the full rimfire challenge format so folks have a lower hurdle equipment-wise to get into the game.

Stay tuned, I'm hoping we get the go-ahead!

The RMSG are held mid-July.

Same format as previous years, Rimfire Challenge "lite" which is four stages, three runs each stage and drop the slowest. Pistols and rifles are separate competitions, with iron, optics and age groups being separate classes given enough people in each class.

Good news, shooting easily made the cut and is approved for 2024 Rocky Mountain State Games!

As soon as we have a date I'll post it here.

Next year we'll split the optics and irons - the fact that they got lumped together was a miscommunication issue that we won't allow to happen again.

Thanks to all that participated this year, you helped shooting to be a returning sport!
