View Full Version : 14.5? pinned
Are there any good quality 14.5? barrels out there that are available at not Armageddon prices?
Want to plan out my next upgrade to the AR. 16? after pinning and welding but want to get it right.
Can muzzle devices be changed on a pinned and welded barrel? Or do I have to get it right the first time.
Is this a job for Bower?s?

That?s a lot of questions.
I still see reasonably priced barrels out there.
You can remove a pinned/welded muzzle device and probably reuse the barrel but generally it will involve destroying the muzzle device.
Personally, I quit doing the 14.5? barrels and just deal with the extra length as it really is minimal and causes me so significant issues and it just makes repairs/maintenance/upgrades way easier down the road.
Also, Faxon makes some interesting barrels with either a permanently attached device that is slim enough to allow gas block and barrel but removal and installation or I think they even offer barrels where the device is an integrally machined part of the barrel.

Yes with cutting the pinned one. But the labor to change them out defeats the purpose of saving money. Buy a 16", call it good . OR run a brace of some sort, on that 14.5" pistol build

Check out Ballistic Advantage, they have a govt profile mid length 1:7 14.5 at a great price, and there are many muzzle devices to choose from that will get you over 16.
Faxon has a lightweight barrel, the gunner, and you can get it factory pinned 14.5. The factory muzzle device is .620, so you can re-use your gas block or go for an adjustable gas block since you can remove it. It's 1:8 twist and it does open up a little after a fast mag, but I'll tell you what the barrel cools down FAST.
