Anyone else here load for and shoot a .300 Fireball? If so, what bullet weights do you shoot? I generally have been shooting 168 SMK's, simply because I had several boxes sitting around and I'd developed an accurate load for mine. I'd be curious if anyone is shooting the heavier bullets, like 200's or 220's subsonic and if so what kind of range and accuracy are you getting?
My Fireball is a 16" CAR configuration, with an Omega Rail and a Phantom flash hider. Standard trigger and CAA 6 position stock.

you need to go here:
it is the largest collection of 300/221 owners.

Quarterbore forum with a large following of the Whispers. Lots of loading data and trouble shooting.
This was a cartridge that interested me for some time and I eventually went with a 7.62x39 upper, and load those sub-sonic instead of having to form brass.
I have one. I shoot 220s on top of N110.
Forming brass is easy. I use my Dillon 1050 and a Dillon trimmer. 1,000 Whisper cases an hour.
I have a 300 bolt gun being built right now. Its going in an AI chassis. AI finally decided to make 223 mags for the AI.
Oh yeah, if you ever get a wild hair and decide to call SSK Industries for info on any of his wildcats, dont.
If you bought it directly from him he will talk to you. Otherwise it aint happening.

I've been to the quarterbore site, and a couple others. I was more interested in anyone around here that has one, like Hoser. I just can't quite wrap myself around the idea of having a 7.62x39 AR. Plus the Fireball allows the use of standard 5.56 mags.
It takes me longer to make my brass than with a Dillon setup like that, but I have about 500 pcs, give or take, which is plenty for how much I shoot it. I've heard of folks with .300 Whisper Contenders, but I hadn't heard of anyone with a bolt gun in this caliber. Especially in an AI platform!
I've heard that about SSK. Ol' JD is rather taciturn unless he's out for a PR stint, from everything I've ever heard.
