I shot a match today in the open PCC class and had a blast. 147gn 9mm has always been a problem in everything, because seating it deep enough to fit the barrel compresses the powder or bulges the case. I decided to look at throating my 9mm barrels so that I can stretch the rounds out to an OAL of 1.13 ish with a .02 gap or so. Right now the bullet is hitting the lands at OAL 1.105 and the cases are starting to bulge in the middle, just getting too low in the case. Also just to note, I have like 4k 147gn bullets and I love the way they shoot in the PCC I just want to boost the accuracy and get them off the lands so changing to a lighter bullet is not my preferred solution. 9mm isn't growing on trees anymore, so I plan to use what I have.

I think that I want to throat my 9mm barrels to shoot the heavier round more safely, and more accurately. Is there any down side to this? Anyone have any pointers tips or tricks for dialing it the throating depth? Any other options that I should consider? Any particular throat reamers that you would recommended?

Only downside I can think of is if it makes it somehow worse to shoot lighter stuff, if you ever sell the gun. That can be disclosed though.
