In all my transactions on Armslist, I don't recall ever using the "contact seller" function, I always just called the seller at the number they put in their listing.

At any rate, Armslist has been working overtime for the last year or so to cut their own throats. Nickel and dimeing people is a good way to go out of business.

I think their business model is to cut out the private sellers and just run ads for local dealers. Which undermines its very reason for existence.

Maybe they're hedging their bets expecting a Biden victory and thus a coming ban on private sales (and online advertising of private sales) alltogether.

Found a workaround. If your account has deactivated listings you can update the contents and reactivate for free. I just reactivated and deactivated a bunch to update in the future since these do go dormant eventually. Finally, if you post an email in your listing potential buyers should be able contact you.

It?s not perfect but will work for now.

Hmm... I have my active listings bookmarked and it still lets me access and manipulate without asking for payment.

Poorly thought out business model on Armslist's end. Forcing both buyers and sellers to pay will kill the site quickly. You charge the party that is receiving cash from the transaction. Amazon, Google and even Gunbroker have figured that out long ago. I feel for them with the lawsuit but the lack of thought on the business model makes they a great target for the anti-gunners.

I went in yesterday and edited by adding my email in the body of the advert. Right away people started to contact me. The offers are not what I want so no deal yet.

As long as it is active, it does not expire.

So. I edited unexpired listing of firearms I've sold and edited to holster and accessories. So if I have a firearm or ammo to sell, I can edit that to list my firearms.

I use my phone but I have heard from others that it is not possible using a computer. I cannot confirm. Also, you will need to list your phone # or email in your ad so others that do not want to pay for a subscription can contact you directly.

It's the mobile site that is still allowing you to edit your old listings, see screenshots, the desktop site does not have the options in the account menu.
If you change your browser on your phone to the desktop site, it will disappear like on the computer. Guess Armslist forgot to update the mobile side of thing.

That might be your answer ... which doesn't bode well for Armslist (although I think the ultimate goal is to end private seller ads and just be a place for local FFLs to advertise their inventory ... which is lame AF but probably safer for them from a liability standpoint).

So. Instead of selling on armslist by waiting 2 weeks to open paid account PLUS sit on a firearm for 2+ month, I was selling it on gunbroker.

Good part about gunbroker is that it sells real fast and can get more $ than armslist to cover the fees.

Bad part is that selling a pistol cost more, because I usually go through the FFL.
(Rifle is much easier by going with fedex).

I sold about 5 firearms past 3mo.

I started paying the $3.99 to Armslist. It was worth it to me. Then they cancelled my account for no apparent reason and couldn't explain why. Of course, I could then reopen the account but it had to be at the $6.99 rate. OK. Fine. Two weeks into it they cancelled my account again. Again, no explanation why. I asked for a refund and they gave me the refund.

Now I just take my guns to a local gun shop in Vernon, TX. They only charge 10%. I can easily make that up. Upside is, the owner has just paid my asking price for every gun I've brought in so far before he even put them on the shelf. It works out well for all of us.

From the Armslist home page from a browser I never use... Navigated to my state and was able to browse listings and read descriptions. But, Armslist still sucks. Doesn't surprise me it works for some and doesn't for others. I've signed up for paid memberships twice and was cancelled after two weeks both times with no explanation. They did refund my entire monthly subscription cost, though. I guess that's a positive.

The latest thing is that I no longer get emails when someone wants to contact me. Instead there is a notification on the site when I log in. I reply but since no one seems to know about the new message feature. it is extremely difficult to get a reply wether I am replying to an advert or someone is replying to mine.
Since I am a member. I can list alternate contact info without any issues. People are reluctant to use it though.

Okay, I was in contact with Armslist yesterday and was finally able to get my point across to someone. They will have a update coming soon that will reenable the email feature and will also have an alternate texting feature. They could not give me a time line but just said soon.
I will continue to use it, I stay local, no shipping and I personally do not feel that it is like Craigslist so much anymore. The fact that people have to pay for certain features has really cut down on the asshole quotient. I have tried GB an GA and have not been satisfied with my experience.

What is so sucky about Armslist? It used to be great! For what it is anyways. You deal ftf, tell scammers to F off, and go on with life! In Colorado post universal bgc it has sucked. Before it was ok. Now, with all the extra monkey motion folks usually don?t respond.
