I tried understanding some of the messages here and being kinda lazy and out of state now I'm asking will my current CCW from Wyoming work for getting a new one in Colorado or do I have to take a class and pass to get one there?

Colorado Revised Statutes 18-12-203 (https://codes.findlaw.com/co/title-18-criminal-code/co-rev-st-sect-18-12-203.html) (1)(h). This is what you're required to have in terms of training for a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit - CHP (not CCW). A CHP/CCW from another state is not listed, but something else you have might be.

(h) Demonstrates competence with a handgun by submitting:

(I) Evidence of experience with a firearm through participation in organized shooting competitions or current military service;

(II) Evidence that, at the time the application is submitted, the applicant is a certified instructor;

(III) Proof of honorable discharge from a branch of the United States armed forces within the three years preceding submittal of the application;

(IV) Proof of honorable discharge from a branch of the United States armed forces that reflects pistol qualifications obtained within the ten years preceding submittal of the application;

(V) A certificate showing retirement from a Colorado law enforcement agency that reflects pistol qualifications obtained within the ten years preceding submittal of the application;  or

(VI) A training certificate from a handgun training class obtained within the ten years preceding submittal of the application.  The applicant shall submit the original training certificate or a photocopy thereof that includes the original signature of the class instructor.  To the extent permitted by section 18-12-202(5) , in obtaining a training certificate from a handgun training class, the applicant shall have discretion in selecting which handgun training class to complete.

I don't believe that any state allows you to simply "transfer" your out-of-state CHL (like one would do with a Drivers' License).

You don't transfer it. You use to a validate you have the necessary quals / training to get one in CO.

Not in CO. CCW from another state isn't one of the accepted "proof of competence with a handgun"

That didn't work here in KS. I have to go through the whole process like a newb if I want a KS CHL. Which I don't really need unless I want to leave the state and continue to carry (since its constitutional carry here).

Now apparently if I can find my certificate from the training I got for CO I think it might be good enough to get my KS CHL (I don't know if there's a time limit for which the training is good for ... mine is from like 2004). I haven't found my cert yet so I'll probably have to take a course here in KS before I get mine. But I'm not in a tremendous hurry since I don't see us leaving KS for a while.

Once you have been a Colorado resident for 90 days your Wyoming CCL is null & Void even if there is a respiratory. You need to get busy on a Colorado CHL.

Interesting. We used the CO permit to get the AZ one.
