I recently discovered that there are 3 Gun Matches and possibly some rimfire(action pistol or rifle) matches at the Weld County Shooting range. Now that football season is over (I'm a teacher and a coach) I want to start finding out some information. I'm really interested in the 3 Gun but wouldn't be able to shoot every month because of finances, which is why I'm also looking for information about rimfire matches. I wouldn't be shooting until the spring but I like to start getting some gear gathered.

For 3 gun I would use either my AR or my M17 Bullpup, a Moss 500 20ga (if allowed) and since all I have is .357 Security Six I would use that with .38's and speed loaders. I know that I would be at a disadvantage but I'm looking for an excuse to shoot the guns that I have and have a lot of fun doing it.

How much ammo would I need for each gun? Are FMJ's, non-steel core alright to shoot?

Any information on the 3 Gun or rimfire matches would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
BP

Thank you for the link! Are there any other in and outs about these specific matches that I should be aware of? Thanks

Depends on the match, email the match director for more specifics. But for most local 3gun matches 100 rounds of pistol, 100 rounds of rifle, 60 birdshot and a dozen slugs should be plenty. FMJ non steel core are fine.

Again it depends on the match, but in general be able to hit a 10" circle at 200 yards, be able to hit a slightly larger target with shotgun slugs out to 50, be able to hit 6" plates out to 25 yards with your pistol, and well hitting stuff with birdshot usually ain't that hard.

You'll need a holster that securely holds your pistol and covers the trigger. Pouches you can put on your belt to hold pistol magazines or speedloaders, that hold rifle magazines and that hold shotgun shells. You can put all that stuff in your pockets if you wish, but that will just slow you down.

There are monthly matches at Weld and Aurora Gun Club.
