Had a paraframe, good knife. Lost it running toward someone that fell out of a truck at speed. Unfortunate.

Got to hear that story!

So many questions......
Why were you running with a knife toward someone falling out of a truck?

It fell out of my pocket somewhere on that dirt road. Tried locating it the next day, but no luck.

2 guys were standing in the bed of a truck, moving rabidly down a dirt road. One of em (the bigger one) swayed a bit and knocked the other one out of the truck. He landed face first on the dirt road. Had mud packed under his eyelids.

Probably not the best answer to the question but I?ve had tremendous success buying some very nice knives ?used? for under $100 that otherwise would have set me back well over that amount.

Nothing like paying $60 or $80 for a barely (if at all) used Zero Tolerance or Benchmade.

As far as buying new, one of my favorite little every day knives is the Benchmade Mini Griptillian. I think the one I am currently carrying was $104 brand new. I know it?s technically over the $100 budget but what?s $4 in the grand scheme of things?

Kershaw Launch 2, but sadly they stopped making it.

The Kershaw Launch 1 is a nice knife too.

Both the Kershaw Launch 2 and 1 are autos, so they are good values for autos.

These Kizer's are a good deal, I like mine. Otherwise it'd be a Spyderco ;-)

I still want one of those, with a birthday and Christmas coming up, perhaps I?ll put it on the list.

Keyshaw Leek. I?ve got far more expensive knives, I keep going back to the Kershaw. It is still my edc.

edit to add - the Leek is still 100% US made.

Over the last year, I?ve really taken a liking to knives. I really never saw the value of having multiple knives (and still don?t to a point) but here is what I?ve come up with:

Ganzo series - These can be found on amazon for $25 or less. A lot of them use the Benchmade axis lock which is nice. I have two of them and I like them for the price.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076X5P79F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_UNd1FbKXS0NSJ

Boker - As someone mentioned these already, these are solid budget knives. I have a couple and I?m very happy with them.
https://www.bladehq.com/cat--All-Boker--42

Civivi - for more of a gentleman?s folder, it?s a great nice. Very smooth action.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GYJ2VHB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_iOd1Fb5NRK0P5

CRKT - CEO, again another good gentleman?s folder.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HYV58VD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_MOd1Fb950QNP9?_encodin g=UTF8&psc=1

Kershaw - The CQC series are excellent budget knives that have have wave opening feature. Once you get used to it, it?s the fastest opening knife you?ll ever own. I carried one daily for 3+ years and finally retired it but still have it. I think I have three or four from this series. The launches are also great for autos.

What I?ve really grown to like is Benchmade?s. I?ve never owned an expensive knife and honestly, never saw the value in them till recently. I always wagered that I would lose my knife so I never wanted to invest in something expensive. After carrying my kershaw CQC-3K for over three years, I decided I was responsible enough to buy something more ?quality.? After mucho research, I came to the conclusion that the Benchmade Triage Auto was my perfect knife. Auto opening, glass breaker and the rescue hook. The rescue hook has been more handy than I ever imagined; very handy tool. It?s a little bigger knife but it carries well. As Ray mentioned, the used market offers plenty that will get you a very nice knife for a decent price. There is a few solid Benchmade knifes that are right around $100.

Personally, I’d avoid serrated knives as they can’t be sharpened and really don’t hold more advantage. Hope this helps.

I'm partial to the Byrd stuff from Spyderco.

https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/category/byrd

My current "dress" knife is a Meadowlark 2 in Titanium. My daily is a Gerber Smartknife as I can replace the blade with a razor sharp new one in about 5 seconds, and it won't kill me if I destroy it.

I have a Ganzo and I really like the mechanism, but it's a pain to sharpen and didn't hold an edge well compared to my Kershaw. I got a used (but perfectly fine blade) Benchmade at a pawn shop for $25 and it was fantastic, but I lost it. I'm in a period without a good knife, and no flashlight, and I need to get back to good of both.

Been carrying a Spyderco Dyad Jr. for over 35 years. Best of both worlds with a serrated blade and plain edge blade. I don't believe it's made any more. Looks like several hundred dollars on e-bay,must be a collectible.

Another vote for the Spyderco Delica. I have had several over the years. Currently have two. Also I have the Byrd equivalent to the Delica that I bought from Tfogger. Also a good knife.

I really like a butterfly with G10 scales and a 3.5 inch blade.
Something I can use while my gloves are on.

What's your favorite folding knife for under $100

I?ve recently discovered a couple of budget brand knives that seem to be of decent quality.

I picked up a CIVIVI that I?m pretty impressed with. D2 blade, micarta scales, ball bearings, etc. for $52. If you get the G10 scales they?re a little cheaper.

I also picked up a similar type knife from a company called QSP that is also pretty nice and it was less than $30. The only negative comment I can make about this one is that the heads of the screws for the pocket clip aren?t recessed making the clip a little snug on my pocket. It?s such a nice knife otherwise that I might just countersink those screws myself then it will be almost perfect.
