Wife's vehicle needs new wipers. Currently have "beam" style on there that still manage to not always wipe effectively and get ice trapped under the blade.
What do you folks use?
Thanks!

Bosch and RainX

+1 Both are pricey but durability and effectiveness are obvious. I'm in the same boat on my F150 and will be going with either Bosch or RainX.
Thank you for the recommendations.
Bosch Icons and use the orange Rain-x washer fluid. The fluid repels water after it is used, and strangely, my wipers seem to last longer when I use the orange stuff.
Another vote for Bosch. Check out Advance Auto Parts as they usually have some sort of coupon.
As far as snow and ice all wiper blades pretty much blow. I just buy cheap and plan on doing it every year before winter.
I have been running that orange RainX washer fluid and it does make a big difference. Automatically applying the RainX every time you use your washers throughout the winter not only reduces the amount of times you actually use the wipers but makes everything come off easily when you do need to use the wipers.

This, this, and this:
Use Bosch Icons and Rain-X fluid.

I have the Rain-X blades on all of our vehicles.
They are not cheap, but they work well, and seem to last pretty well.

Valeo or Bosch Icon.
I tend towards Trico Neoform, they tend to do well for me. Years ago I used Bosch exclusively, but they didn't hold up so well.
+1 Rain-X fluid
Expensive- Bosch aerotwin, icon, evo,orig.
Moderate- most of rainX models
Cheap - Supertech. [LOL]
Bosch lasted more than 11 years even without silicon treating.
Even cheap under $5 wiper will last over a year with good cleaning treating.
Bosch but make sure it's the Icons. I've tried all the rest & until someone invents a laser that instantly removes rain completely it's all I'll use.

Nailed it, on both counts.
Ooo, making notes here - I figured washer fluid was washer fluid.....
.455_Hunter asked an apt question because all the windshield wipers I've bought in the past few years have been terrible with fragile little plastic parts that break under normal use. I don't remember all the brands but include mid priced Michelin and recently Rain-X. So similar I suspect they are all made by the same China manufacturer.
I appreciate the recommendations. This evening i picked up some Bosch Icons. Apparently made in China too. Waay pricey. Hope they hold up better.

The rain-x stuff contains a bit of silicone that coats the glass and repels water. Coincidentally, silicone is used to condition rubber and delay the oxidation process.
That blue stuff is just water with a bit of alcohol.

Have to shop around. ebay blowouts, etc.
I often seem to catch stock turnovers or overstock from the big box auto parts stores on ebay and get them at a big discount.

Add me to the list in agreement. The orange rain-x fluid is the ONLY way to go.

Thanks, I will do that. Amazon price is $39 + tax delivered for the two I needed; I paid $56 + tax at Auto Zone. Unfortunately, I had to have them now for a trip over the mountains. But I'll need sets for two trucks before long.
Edit to note that adjusted for tax, Amazon cost is 30% less.
Thanks to this thread, I silicon treated all the windshield wipers. :)

I greatly appreciate all the responses to this thread! Thank you!
Pro tip, silicone treat your snow shovel as well. Really helps the snow fall off.

This is a different thread topic but I'm partial to Fluid Film for this purpose. Snow plow & blower included. Ymmv

Silicone treat the soles of your snow boots to keep snow from sticking to them.

Same thing for those high traffic commercial walkways & drive lanes.
Ohh, that's a good idea.
Follow me for more winter hacks.
PF long term UV exposure test.
Bosch again on top.

I think the extended tips fit fine in this thread. I regularly use silicone spray in my snow thrower but haven't thought of using it on boots, snow shovels or the plow. So now, not all silicone spray products are the same? I want something that lasts a long time at reasonable cost. I'll have to look for Fluid Film.
Can the silicone spray on the boots transfer to carpet, and if so, might it attract more dirt?

I've been purchasing just the OEM rubber insert for years. They last better than any aftermarket blade and don't ever squeek or skip. Like any rubber item in the elements, they wear out but are cheap. It's also far less wasteful than throwing out the metal or plastic arms every time. For this to be an option, you need the OEM arms.

Certain dealerships are very competitive online. Look up genuine OEM (whatever brand you own) parts and you'll find the ones who compete. I just looked up my FJ Cruiser and the "rubber inserts" for the OEM arms are $8.99 a piece and I'd say, conservatively, last 2-3 times as long as any aftermarket... and somehow never squeek or skip.

Beam style OEM blades on my truck delivered in March already starting to suck.

What maker? I guess I should've pointed out that I can only speak for Honda and Toyota in the last few years.
