A few days ago it discovered that the FBI is investigating a bomb threat to the US power grid.
It is called operation "Lights out"
Loss of power, loss of communication's, what goes along with that?
Richard
The mayor seems jovial about it...

Someone posted on another site that the ATF was enroute. I'm sure that's irritating after putting all kinds of work into such serious crimes as pistol braces and now you have to go deal with this

So that evacuation message was from the bomb vehicle?
That's something new...

It's interesting how much little actual information is reported on this in the press. This is the TLDR breakdown:
A) The bomb was in an RV, it warned people to evacuate and had a fifteen minute countdown.
B) It is clear that human lives are not the target.
C) It took out an AT&T comm building and a regional hub. Fairly clear that is the target. Severe damage and a partial collapse of one building is reported.
D) AT&T owns CNN, by the way.
E) There is tangible information that there are others who want to attack communication and power infrastructure across the country.

It took me a few minutes to locate anything, other than the initial story on line. Wonder if this "explosion" disappears as fast as the vegas shooter, did

I have two theories. One is protesting 5G. The other is it is an insurance scam for a local business.
Forensics on the body should tell us the unsub.
There's no reason to also target power stations if it's a 5G conspiracist.
There's too much unknown to estimate what the end goal is or what the purpose is, or how many are interested/involved.

This has me concerned. With talk of targeting more communications and power grid entities, is this the start of something bigger? Will this event one day be the new "shot heard around the world"? Was this done by a person/group angered by the total dismissal of election fraud claims?
While I can appreciate the fact that the bomber used the recording in an effort to spare human life, in todays world it isn't practical to assume folks would comply or take it seriously. I heard the "if you can hear this you must evacuate immediately" in the recording, but was there an actual countdown as well?
I'd like to believe this is a 'one off' and there's nothing more to be concerned with, but I suspect there will be more and I fear that there will be many injured or killed in following rounds. If there are follow-up events, will they too include warnings?
The mayor of Nashville is a total idiot for dismissing this all with a laugh - his attitude may cause others to get hurt.
Too many questions and at this point too few answers.
Be careful out there. Keep your situational awareness high and run like hell if you find yourself near one of the potential targets.

What I posted on another board about your very point:
The RV was broadcasting a warning? Clearly whoever did this didn't read Heinlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress"
For those of you that haven't read it, a quick synopsis of the part I'm referring to (spoiler warning):
The Moon colony wants independence from Earth.
The Moon colony doesn't want a war, but needs to demonstrate that they have the power to inflict great damage upon the Earth.
The Moon colony loads up several supply containers with rocks instead of the usual cargo and sent them towards Earth, not into their usual parking orbit around Earth but straight in.
The Moon colony can do so with great accuracy, so they target vast, unpopulated areas as demonstrations (remember, the Moon doesn't want to start a war).
The moon colony warns the Earth that these areas will be demonstration strikes and tells Earth EXACTLY where where the strikes will be so they can assure the areas are evacuated (remember, the Moon doesn't want to start war).
Earth's government does nothing and allows tens of thousands of people go to the published sites to see the Moon "throw rocks".
Tens of thousands of people die.
Earth blames the Moon for the deaths and starts a war.
For those of you watching "The Expanse", yhea, I see it too...

Ford E350 motorhome. I wonder if it had the generator running? Seems pretty sophisticated. My guess is this was a laptop controlled device that detonated a propane fueled blast. Had a CB radio PA setup.
My opinion is this is domestic terrorism.
The reason folks evacuated was Police arrived on scene due to 911 calls reporting shots fired. They show up, hear and see the RV, and begin evacuating the neighborhood. I will bet all the slave bucks that the shots fired and possibly the call into 911 was the same person/group that parked the VBIED in front of the AT&T/NSA Building.

It supposedly took out either dispatch or at least LEO communications in parts of three states. But, I'm waiting to hear details as to... how or why. Here in CO dispatch is usually managed on a county by county basis, sometimes with joint agreements across a couple counties. They usually run off local towers. I have a hard time imagining how the loss of a C/O would disrupt local LEO communications unless they were doing something stupid from a disaster management/recovery standpoint, but I only know about "here".

Impacted 911 service, not radio comms.

I was kind of wondering the same thing. I was about to post yesterday to General Thread and I thought there is no way someone has not posted this incident before me...and then I found it in a somewhat more educational section of the forum.

I just read the authorities are speculating it is a suicide bombing. Flick your Bic?
Yes, like some loser wants to go out famous for the first and last time in his life. Not unlike the Las Vegas POS. Now, what was his name?

I think it was John Wilkes Booth
Here's another incident you'll never hear of, happened about the same time/same day in Los Angeles. Just not a bomb. I work in telecom, this affected us.
There was a manhole in the back end of a RR Yard, that went into a storage vault for fiber optic cable. I don't know if there was a splice case in there or just coils of slack, but there was a 216 count fiber cable in it, with a lot of important traffic on it. And the big cast iron manhole lid was WELDED shut, to discourage vandalism and copper thieves. Makes me think it was a slack storage vault.
SOMEBODY went to the effort to use either a cutting torch or generator and grinder, to defeat the welds and get the lid off, then went in and cut the fiber cable at both east & west ducts, and remove it. Fiber cable has NO scrap value whatsover. Caused MAJOR disruptions to communications traffic in the LA area.
Happened same time frame as Nashville bombing of AT&T building - coincidence? Hmmm......
Accidents happen to cables, but you'd be amazed how many big fires happen in huge underground cable vaults in major cities all over the country that cause massive damages. Ya gotta wonder.

Interesting, the suicide bomber in Nashville gave away his house to a 29 year old in LA.
Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, signed the property away via a quitclaim deed to Lisa Swing, a 29-year-old woman living in Los Angeles, for $0.00, according to county records.
The bomber's father worked for Bell South in Nashville.
Records show the Nashville bombing suspect's late father worked for BellSouth, a telecommunications company that merged into AT&T in 2006, before his death in July 2011 at age 78.
The blast on Christmas morning detonated outside an AT&T building, injuring three people and causing service outages that have affected customers and 911 operations.
So now we know how he knew what is routed thru that building, and we have an LA connection.

Anytime someone goes through all that preparation to pull this kind of shit off, is interesting to me on a few different levels. I'd like to hear the facts when they are all uncovered.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that there was more than just propane behind that release of energy.
BushMasterBoy
12-27-2020, 09:49
I am saying propane because I don't see a blast crater. Could have had HE, NOX, acetylene etc. I would say the motive was psychosis.
Moral of the story: When the vehicle talks, run!
Your beliefs are based on tiny screenshots on a couple brief news reports are probably about as accurate as an African bushmen making predictive "renderings" of a Tesla Cybertruck in the sand in 2018, based on seeing one vehicle in their life driving 8 miles away. Gasses are hardly ever used as an effective IED in domestic or international terror. 41 buildings were damaged and one partially collapsed. That's an impressive yield.
I'll wait to hear the details, if they are ever reported. I don't think the press wants to cover people targeting their infrastructure, lest they give other people ideas and the attacks increase.
Now, on the other hand, if it's a school shooting, who in the media cares if other kids are motivated by the press coverage to murder children. 24x7 COVERAGE NOW!

At this point I almost wonder if this just wasn't an elaborate suicide. He gave his house away to a younger woman in CA (some E-THOT?) he has almost no family and people say he was a loner. So he decided to off himself in such a way that "they'll remember me now" but he wasn't enough of a dick that he wanted to harm others. Could also have a political or other subtext but might not even.
The song "Downtown" by Petula Clark was playing from the RV right before the blast, authorities said. That song's lyrics start, "When you're alone and life is making you lonely, you can always go downtown"
It appears that Warner was shedding elements of his already isolated life in recent weeks; he gave up a job earlier this month and gave up his house for nothing to a California woman last month.
Warner, who was unmarried and childless, was self-employed in the IT area, a neighbor said; state records show he once was licensed as an alarm contractor, with a specialty in burglar alarm installation.
In recent years, the reclusive Warner, known as Tony to some, lost a father and brother, leaving him with few living family members. On Saturday, a Newsweek editor said (https://twitter.com/NaveedAJamali/status/1342974303596253185) DNA swabs were being collected from Warner's mother, "possibly to help identify human remains."

The only thing making me think this isn't the case is that there's been no suicide note.

Maybe he left it on the RV's dining table?
Too soon?
