There were a couple of comments in the NYE thread about getting out and riding.....or not. I was able to get out last Saturday, lots of riders out as well. Ran a couple of errands then down to Palmer Lake, one of my favorite short rides. However since then it's back in the garage, on the battery tender, under a cover sniff sniff. I still have a frozen tundra outside my driveway, too much shade, so I'm going to have to wait until we get consistently in the 50s.

Considering this is most likely my last year on two wheels I want to ride as much as possible before the bike goes up for sale. Oh well, it is winter after all LOL.

I retired from riding on the streets a few years ago. Dirt only for me now. I pretty much quit enjoying road riding. Too stressful with all the dumbasses on the road not paying attention.

Rode about 55 miles today just to get out into the wind. Great way to start the year!

The plan is to loose 40 pounds by June and get the CR into riding condition and get out on the trails again. Maybe pick up a dual sport.

Doc, you gonna go for a CanAm or a trike? It looks like a lot of sled under that tarp. Consider going smaller/lighter before you give up on 2 wheels, and don't scoff at electric because it's definitely coming.

Try an ebike. You'll lose weight while riding. Worked for me.

I have rode street E-bikes. Actually liked it quite a bit. I would like to have a off road E-bike but I want a longer range and faster recharge times. I was able to get over 50 miles when racing the CR and over 70 miles trail riding from a 3.7 gallon tank.
I have a friend that worked for Alta and he takes his gas bike with him so he can still ride while the battery is charging on the Alta after a 45 miles ride.

Back in my college days (the 70s) I used to do century rides every two weeks, a bicycle was my only transportation that first year (the old Bonneville and then Sporty that I had barely stayed road worthy lol). My long distance bicycle days are way behind me. I would love to have something along the lines of an old Bonnie to just run around on but don't think that's in the cards either.

I was intrigued until I read about the charging process in the Manual:

Do not over charge the battery by leaving the charger in the charging port. Once the battery is fully charged remove the charger immediately.

I won't pay attention to that much detail.

Does twenty five miles count on one of these things? A bit chilly but all in all good to be outside and not eating bugs!
