View Full Version : Is Ar15.com zapped?
Has been down for a little while now. Enquiries on their Facebook page but no answers yet.
I believe they are hosted by Amazon, same as Parler, so ....

They are offline.
They're not off line. I can still access through my browser if I use TOR.
It's a DNS issue.

if you can't get to it, try changing your DNS setting to 1.1.1.1 instead of whatever your ISP provides.

Changing DNS to 1.1.1.1 works as DenverGP said.
I had to mod my host file. Apparently GoogleDNS is blocking it/scrapped its entry, or something?
Currently using 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.222.220 for alt DNS.

Just got on as well.
Ill have to do a hosts file edit tutorial that yall can print with current dns info. Once my own internet comes back on...
I was just there a couple of minutes ago, exchanging some pms.
current ICANN domain info for arfcom:
Name: AR15.COM
Registry Domain ID: 984217_DOMAIN_COM-VRSN
Domain Status:
clientDeleteProhibited
clientHold
clientRenewProhibited
clientTransferProhibited
clientUpdateProhibited
=
clientHold
client hold
This status code tells your domain's registry to not activate your domain in the DNS and as a consequence, it will not resolve. It is an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal disputes, non-payment, or when your domain is subject to deletion.
Often, this status indicates an issue with your domain that needs resolution. If so, you should contact your registrar to resolve the issue. If your domain does not have any issues, but you need it to resolve, you must first contact your registrar and request that they remove this status code.
So, it's GoDaddy screwing arfcom currently on DNS.

Help the ignorant- What does it take to own/maintain a website free from the "oversight" of a company like GoDaddy?

You need a computer hooked to the internet + the ability to have a DNS record that is not nuked.
The problem is not so much the computer / software side - but to be able to maintain internet access once you have been declared verboten. It is easy to track down IP address ownership; and see how that person is connected and attack that side of the fence.

Back before DNS, there was txt file that got passed around and updated in newsgroups. You'd add those entries to a file on your computer so your computer could associate name-IP, and that was how name resolution worked in the early days.

Lovely. All they're doing is providing the Leftists with fodder to justify the censorship and shutdowns. They are literally undermining the justification for resisting the imposition of state-controlled media.

I had read, earlier, they were scrambling for a new host and were running off their backup. I haven't checked to see who is hosting them now, if they are indeed back up.

And GoDaddy just shut down Arfcom.
Anybody who thinks this current culture war bullshit is about Trump or that this is suddenly going to stop after the inauguration is a sucker who hasn't been paying attention for a long time. When the left finds a stick they beat you with it. It's what they do.

There are hundreds of registrars, godaddy just happens to be the biggest one. Which one is the best in light of these events, who knows, probably something smaller, maybe something not U.S. based. Then, you either have to pay for DNS server hosting or host your own (slightly more complicated to host your own) and you can host your own web servers off of any internet connection. DNS = the internets phone book. It says www.ar-15.co actually is http://54.209.36.119 <--- this websites REAL address.
Godaddy or some other entity placing a legal hold with godaddy is attempting to outright steal arfcoms domain. Not only did they fuck up their DNS, but they are locking up the registry to keep them from transferring it, so they don't have access to their chattel worth easily ~$250,000. Being that they have several other domains, I'm not sure why they aren't falling back into, it makes me believe that Godaddy has frozen their entire portfolio. This crap is insane, but it is something I did anticipate years ago, just a matter of time. It's also a big, big reason why it is unwise to discuss "grey" area stuff on public facing websites. If people want to discuss those kinds of things, do it in person.
Question: when I try to bypass DNS and just go to here via IP, I get a page that is all but blank except all cap “HERE”. So does the backend have a redirect to get to the actual forum? I’ve tried IP/forums and also IP/forums/subforum by copy/paste and swapping domain name for IP.

The regressive Stalinists would like to have done that in 1994. I think they're trying to cancel enough Republicans in the Senate and Congress so they can push legislation and even Constitutional rewrites amendments without any significant opposition.
