For example, a bad actor could mine from fake accounts, transfer the Pi to a legitimate account, and then pass through Pi?s account verification process despite their illicit gains. We are still refining the exact development timeline for the project.

This bugs me. I'll have to dig into this more to actually figure out why this smacks of a scam so badly, but this quote itself really doesn't sit right. If you want more people to mine, then why do you GAFF how many accounts someone maintains?

The most basic description that I can come up with is that this is just a pyramid scheme. The "early adopters" earn faster/more/etc, specifically as they get more people involved.

First, the network uses Google’s recaptcha v3 to know if a device is operated by a human or a machine. (This technology is completely invisible to most users, since they are real humans, but bots may start seeing captchas if google’s algorithm catches them). Over time, we are also developing a machine learning algorithm based on real users’ mining behavior to predict bots.
Second, Pi’s consensus algorithm requirement (security circles) make it easy to detect fake accounts. Fake accounts will not have enough real people pointing at them via security circles. At best, fake accounts would be pointing at each other with very few incoming pointers from the rest of the network. This anomaly is easy to detect with computer algorithms.
Finally, when Pi enters its 3rd and final phase - Mainnet, only accounts validated as belonging to distinct real individuals will be honored. In other words, even if all other methods missed out on some “bot” accounts, this user validation process will further eliminate them because bot owners will not be able to prove bots as real people with real names. We are currently exploring decentralized KYC processes that would be minimally intrusive.

This, to me, damn near guarantees that this is cover for some other purpose. They are completely focused on having people tied to their phones once every 24 hours, and it HAS to be people...

I promise I am not trying to take a crap on your thread. That's not my intent at all. I am skeptical of most things, especially when the hype around it doesn't really add up.

Meh. Another gimmicky alt coin hyped up to be the next big thing. Beyond the ?get in early to be at the top because the top earns more than the bottom? pyramid scheme confession, they are playing on the whole environmentally friendly, save the planet theme which kind of bothers me.

There is still no indication when, or if, the 35 million so-called Pioneers who mine on the Pi Network (PI) are ever going to benefit from their coins. As of October 26, 2022, there are still no coins being traded, there have been no transactions and no fiat rewards. This makes it difficult to establish the worth of PI coin.
