Source for plastic-foam packing material?

I know it's a longshot but I'm looking for a specific type of material in small quantities.

I don't know what it's called but it's similar to Styrofoam except that it's plastic and doesn't have the annoying static electricity sticky properties of Styrofoam.

It's the kind of stuff that computers and other electronics are often packaged with.

I need this material (or something like it) for a craft project I'm working on. Regular foam rubber is too soft, but it needs to be something I can cut into small pieces (say a 7" x 7" square no more than 1" thick.)

I've looked at Michaels and Hobby Lobby, and at the big home stores and can't find anything like what I need.

Any suggestions?

You're probably looking for closed cell polyethylene foam. Open cell foam is the springy stuff that can absorb liquids and such. Closed cell won't collapse as much. (Like what pool noodles are made of)

Yup, that's what I'm looking for. And right after I posted that, I got to thinking "what about those cheapie 'anti fatigue floor mats' they sell at Harbor Freight?"

I think that will work. $9.00 worth should be more than enough for what I need.
