Looks like I have a bad batch of bullets. I've thought something was wrong and today just proved it.

Processed a whole set of brass, all same headstamp, same primers. Trimmed, chamfered, etc. Then using the same powder batch, amount, etc., I loaded up 30 of Hornady #2266 55gr, 30 of the Hornady 2267 55gr, and 30 more of the problem batch that's also 55gr but same profile as the Hornady. So everything the same but the bullet manufacturer.

Both Hornady batches were 30/30 in the ring. Perfect there. The problem ones though, out of 20, 6 weren't even on paper while the rest were right in the ring.

This was just confirmation, I'm already in contact with the manufacturer and working to see what might be wrong. I've bought thousands of these before without a problem, these I got about 6 months ago though. I've weighed a bunch of these bullets, and the weights are all right on 55 grains, so it's not that, maybe they're off center somehow. All I know is that i've suspected that about 30% were bad, but wanted to make sure I truly eliminated all other variables.

Now I've got to pull about 300+ bullets from what I've made already. Gonna be fun with only a hammer style puller. Not finding the collet style pullers in stock really.

I see quite a few of the Hornady Cam Lock pullers on Amazon. Thats the one I'd recommend...lot faster/more efficient than the RCBS

I've heard both ways between the Hornady and the RCBS. But my first pass no one has the collets available. I figure over the next two weeks or so I'll do 20-30 at a time with the hammer one I have.

Take a break for the rest of the day, order one of these in. By the time it arrives, you'll have heard back from the mfg.

I have the rcbs collet puller with 22 collet. You are in COS as well, so if you want to borrow it to pull your bullets you can, send me a PM.

So long as it doesn?t become the new chainsaw :)

I once had a few .45 acp bullets I had to pull. I was using the hammer style puller early in the morning before work to pull a few. I was five or six deep hitting my 4x4 block when the head broke off, bounced off the bench and hit me on the forehead. I went to work with a nice red circle welt. The swelling went down in the afternoon, later in the week it was a nice bruise. I won't own a hammer bullet puller again.

Hey I saw those grip-n-pulls on amazon. Kind of mixed reviews so wasn't sure about them. They really work nice then? The one review said something like smaller bullets like 223 tended to slip. Also they definitely need plasti-dipped!

Not sure as i have one on order. The write ups on a dillon reloading fb & mewe page seems to speak highly of them.

I have the rcbs collet puller which works. Would like to find the hornady cam lock, but like everything else, reloading, gfl.

Ideally i'd like to get to the point where i never had to pull any loaded round, for any issue. [LOL]

The way ammo and component shortages are going, pulling down rounds may become the only way to get reloading components. My neighbor has 900 rounds of 30-06 reloads he can't use any longer. If I had a 30-06, I'd offer him something for them, but for now he's stuck with them.

are they not 308 sized bullets? Not familiar with the .06 round. But they are 308 dia. Just different bullet weights, yes?

You can use the same stuff in 30-06 as you can 308 for the most part. Many of the powders used are the same, and the bullet used is the same.

It?s not a commie sized 30 caliber :)

They are .308, but all i could use is the projectile, unless I tried to "deprime" the brass..no record of what powder it is. He says they shoot great, but all he knows is that they are 150gr pills. I looked at a few... old mil-surp headstamp brass.

those 150 bullets make nice 308 subs, using trail boss

As far as depriming them. in todays market and availability, i would.

Ok review on the Grip-n-Pull:

Step 1 order Grip-n-Pull.
Step 2 go get plastidip for the handles and put it on thick. Maybe a few layers. Electrical tape isn't gonna cut it.
Step 3 it works pretty nicely actually. For 223 it works better gripping it far back close to the end to get it to grip nicely.

Yeah overall it's really going to come in handy. Back in a bit, going to Ace for some plastidip

Not sure the size of the grips but maybe a couple pieces of conduit or piping would help with both feel and leverage.

plastidip, then shrink tubing, then more plastidip .

I feel the pain remember the days in denver when I had to load a bunch of rounds different powder charges ect and go to a range to see what worked then come home and pull them all. Now I simply load a couple of rounds test them on site then go load a couple of more and do it again. I do not miss those days it sucks as a reloader.

Recently I had to reseat 1200 9mm rounds that had too long of a COL. I switched to a FP bullet and the load I had woulnt seat in my p320.

While you are in WAY deeper having to pull them all, I feel your pain.
