Officers were called at 11:59 a.m. last Weds to The Range 702, at 5999 Dean Martin Drive, after an employee reported that a man had been caught rifling through a customer?s bag during a break from a concealed carry permit course . Range employees escorted the man, Marvin Payton Jr, 27 outside to await the police.
Seconds after police pulled up, the man attacked a female officer, striking her twice with a screwdriver. Most everyone on the scene then shot Payton 14 times.
Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Sheriff Brett Zimmerman said Payton had a violent history with police, including charges of attempted murder, attempted robbery of a firearm and assault on a protected person. All involved police and arriving officers had knowledge of Payton?s violent past before the shooting.

Fake news. Gun owners never stop crimes. [Sarcasm2]
This man deserves a 30 foot mural, Nationwide media coverage, and I think I'll go burn down a McDonalds. Who's with me? [Sarcasm2]
Unexpected real live ccw training...

I'm honestly surprised it was only 14 rounds. I was wondering if I was going to watch a video of a bunch of guys with bolt action rifles. BLAM *cycle* BLAM *cycle* BLAM *cycle* BLAM *cycle* click "okay, he's probably dead by now".
Often times when you get a lot of people together the cacophony of shots encourages each individual to shoot more. If it was 5 LEO that opened up on him I'd expect there to be something in the order of 25+ :D
There was a guy in GJ a couple decades ago that took 19 hits of 9mm from LEO and lived...
Did he die?
I was thinking the same thing. There was closure on the officer that was attacked, but not on the attacker.
The only thing I took from it was this; "... Payton had a violent history...". Past tense.
...but writing is pretty awful everywhere in 'news' so I didn't want to assume.
I did find this other article: https://www.kolotv.com/2021/02/09/vegas-police-man-killed-at-gun-range-tried-to-steal-firearm/
Article says he was shot by an officer and 3 employees of the range.

Yeah, he died. The injured officer was treated at a hospital and is recovering from stab wounds and a broken facial bone.
He was shot 14 times, it wasn't announced how many shots were actually fired.
I am going to shoot there. It is only 18-20min from my parent's place. :D
Of course it's all on camera. Three instructors showing good form...hope the truck is okay. Skip to 5:09.

I read the officer hit him 9 times, the other 5 times were the class instructors, however they weren't sure how many shots those guys fired.

Stupid was as stupid did.
Did he die?
I am almost surprised that no one said.......it depends, was it a 9mm or .45? [ROFL1]

Interesting that this has not gained any real media or SJW traction...
"Firing squad of trained killers execute POC"
I've been in LV all week working and caught this on the local news. Nothing but praise for them from the media here and from the local LE.

Gotta say, trying to steal a firearm at a CCW class and then stabbing a police officer with a screwdriver while just outside the range is even dumber than trying to rob the doughnut shop by the police station ...

You obviously aren't keeping up with the new trends in law enforcement.
Very reason some Chief/Sheriff change uniform color to white or tan. :D
