Feel good legislation in the extreme.

From reading that pdf...

1. Your kids can access your modern guns if you give them authorization. Fine- My kids are authorized.

2. Antiques and pre-1971 C&R are exempt, just like the private transfer UBC law. If #1 doesn't fly, then my kids can access my C&Rs.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Upon each submitted background check, LE should be required to submit a warrant to verify you are complying with this nonsense before approval. Otherwise it a do nothing feelgood law.

Shall not comply. My front door has a lock and that is sufficient. Don't punish victims because criminals break laws.

If it passes, leave a cable lock with the key inserted somewhere near where a firearm is. As always, utilize your 4th and 5th amendment rights and don't answer any questions proposed by law enforcement in any legal situation, of any kind. Don't even respond if they ask it was or is secured, or not. No answer either way. Never be concerned with the suspicion of law enforcement or "talking your way out" of anything.

Here's a good review of the issues and fodder for letters to your state representatives:

Was wondering if someone would also point out that the CO bill of rights also seems to prohibit it. How can I defend myself if its locked up?

Section 13. Right to bear arms. The right of no person to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person and property, or in aid of the civil power when thereto legally summoned, shall be called in question; but nothing herein contained shall be construed to justify the practice of carrying concealed weapons.
