Senate Bill 62... very concerning. Restricts prison populations, apparently makes it "illegal" to arrest anyone for pretty much any crime committed, with the only exceptions essentially being 1-3rd degree felony, domestic violence, and "any crime involving an illegal gun". Requiring summons to be issued, no bond issued except in cases of flight risk, etc.

Note that LEO would no longer be able to arrest class 4-6 felonies or misdemeanors or virtually any drug offense. I don't know how things are going for the east slope, but crime is already up tremendously here, in part from the covid releases. Now, all these kind of crimes, law enforcement will have ZERO ability to arrest in most every case and must issue a summons, there won't be any bond amount, and probably no jail time:

Examples of Class 4 felonies are sexual assault, manslaughter, vehicular homicide, criminal extortion, second degree kidnapping, second degree assault, enticement of a child, and identity theft, and "attempts" to commit a class 3 felony, such as "attempted second degree murder".

Examples of class 5 felonies are vehicular assault, criminally negligent homicide, menacing, false imprisonment, aggravated vehicle theft, first-degree criminal trespass, disarming a peace officer, vehicular eluding, cruelty to animals, child abuse, stalking, internet luring of a child, first degree assault.

I know CO want's to surpass CA when it comes to leftist ideology. But now they want to gibe Oregon a run for that title, too?

The pendulum swings both ways first they made everything a felony as an excuse to take away peoples gun rights. Now its filling up jails and prisons so they have to compensate but they still win because now everyone is a felon and cant own a gun. Then when they let the "real" felons out they commit more crimes and now they can scream for more gun control. Its a game they play.

Makes one wonder if the persons who wrote the bill have ever been the victim of a crime like fraud, burglary, robbery, assault, etc. Now, who proposed this and what's their address?

Well at least when I get the urge to punch some jackass in his throat I won?t have any reason to refrain from doing so.

I don't want to be alleged to "promote" any kind of thing, so let it be known I wouldn't condone the following:

What if a bunch of people incited a long running riot at the capital and started assaulting people. Like, thousands of rioters.

Shit, can't arrest them. Can't hold a legislative session to change the law either. Courts are overloaded so they can't handle summons for thousands of them either.

Of course, reality is the purpose of law is to control the subjects, there is no law when you control the stick, so their own law would never work against them.

As you are indicating, various government agencies are doing crazy things.

These are the people that are supposed to represent us, but no!

So...throwing a "mostly peaceful protest" will shutdown a city and nobody gets prosecuted. I thought that had been the situation for the past year.
