Colorado Senate is pushing to pass senate bill 21-182 and Governor Polis is backing the bill. It basic says kids can't be charged or arrested for any misdemeanor crimes on school grounds, buses, or school sponsored events. Those crimes include assault, unlawful sexual contact, drug possession which is any drug under 2grams such as meth and heroin, false imprisonment, menacing, disorderly conduct, etc
This is GREAT way to keep our kids and schools safe!!!!!

I'm not sure how I feel about all this. Fist fighting seems like it could be assault, and as long as kids aren't curb stomping each other at school, it seems reasonable that they wouldn't be arrested. Having a daughter, the thought of kids getting away with unwanted sexual contact doesn't feel right, but they do anyway, and have forever. Going down the list, I'm not sure how productive it would be to arrest kids for disorderly conduct either.
I'm thinking about how any of these crimes would manifest themselves in society with adults and most scenarios could be dreamed up as happening at a bar. Should we have more strict rules at school for minors than we do adults?
The other hand though, is you have to remember the modern school environment leaves teachers and admin entirely powerless to use reasonable measures to control their classroom. When they have real disrupting kids, they sometimes have to call LEO. Just like the crimeorado bill, if LEO is also powerless and cant arrest them...and they know it... That 1/2 of 1% of kids is even more empowered to fully release their inner sociopath at school. And teachers are even more subjugated by it.
Oh I understand. I haven't declared a position on this, because I just don't know what the answer is.

While i understand your questioning some of this bill. Remember this is how the parkland shooter was able to fly under the radar. OH no, there's no issues in our school. Yes crap liek this has been going on for a long time.
However by making it known, there's little, or no, repercussion for any thing. Might as well hand out, The Lord of the Flies, for the student handbook.
I'm not sure I have an issue with higher behavior standards for kids at school than adults in the general population.

Not just arrest but even issue a ticket no enforcement action at all. So a kid can just walk up to a teach or another student an knock them on they bum and no criminal action unless it results in serious bodily injury. The consequences of this bill are huge. There is also a bill that will not allow LEO to contact the parent of a juvenile who is caught with alcohol or Marijuana on their first offense the funny thing is who is going to track how many times they are contacted. Most LEO don't issues citations on this but notify parents instead

Fist fighting is considered disorderly conduct. Assault is usually one sided. Curb stomping will happen as long as there is no serious bodily injury no charges
The kids that get away with shit in school grow up to be adults that expect to be able to get away with whatever they want to do.
It's sounding worse and worse. I'm not surprised.

What really sucks is that if a kid is on the receiving end of said issues and defends himself/herself he/she will probably be considered the "bad" person. And nothing will happen to the offenders.

Nah. What?s sad is the kid on the receiving end will continue to be on the receiving end since nothing will be done to stop the bully.
Well, until the bullied kid finally snaps and goes on a violent rampage against his fellow students and teachers.
Then guns will be blamed.

All of that stuff happened when I was a kid in school in the late 70's/early-80's and I don't recall anyone getting arrested.

Open your eyes this isn't the 70s, 80s, or 90s. MORALS today have been lost and most people would be shocked to see what actually happens in schools today. I understand everyone keeps focusing on the arrest portion but the big issue is NO CRIMINAL CHARGES!!! Some of these kids are crap bags raised by crap bag parents. Guaranteed when kids find out they can't be charged they will do as they please and their behavior will spread outside of school with the same mindset

I seems that we are on a definite path that certain select population groups are exempt from any requirements to follow laws.

It ALWAYS feels like that, at any point in history. The groups change, and society keeps going.

Tell that to the Mayans.

So if a a kid wants to commit crime, he will now decide to just do it at school. No penalty. Steal shit from people, do drugs, assault people or pretty much any misdemeanor. What could possibly go wrong. So schools will be a law free zone?

Let's be honest, and realistic, a lot of the kids, most, that cause those issues at school, aren't in any way thinking about whether they'll have consequences, or get a record or whatever.

https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/02/parkland-shooting-broward-county-schools-policy-report-fewer-infractions-to-police/
Florida’s Broward County, home to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, was among the leaders in this nationwide policy shift. According to Washington Post reporting, Broward County schools once recorded more in-school arrests than any other Florida district. But in 2013, the school board and the sheriff’s office agreed on a new policy to discontinue police referrals for a dozen infractions ranging from drug use to assault. The number of school-based arrests plummeted by 63 percent from 2012 to 2016. The Obama administration lauded Broward’s reforms and in 2015 invited the district’s superintendent to the White House for an event, “Rethink Discipline,” that would highlight the success of Broward and other localities in “transforming policies and school climate.”
Confessed killer Nikolas Cruz, a notorious and emotionally disturbed student, was suspended from Stoneman Douglas High. He was even expelled for bringing weapons to school. Yet he was never arrested before the shooting. In a county less devoted to undoing school disciplinary policies, perhaps Cruz would have been arrested for one of his many violent or threatening incidents. When Cruz got into a fight in September of 2016, he was referred to social workers rather than to the police. When he allegedly assaulted a student in January 2017, it triggered a school-based threat assessment — but no police involvement.

In cases like this they would't be in most situations. Most likely both charged with disorderly conduct and not jailed. Mainly to have consequences for their activity on school grounds or in public.

Wasn't the Mayan's a hispanic version, of SOA, on FX?
As for The Who. With only Daltry & Townsend left, and roger not able to hit the notes he use to. They're more of a Who, cover band.

It's actually been a decent show so far.
There's also The Hu, a Mongolian heavy metal band with some really good songs and videos. Their cover of Sad but True was very well made.
