View Full Version : Form 1 process?
I've done Form 4 using Silencer Shop, which was very easy, but they no longer offer the Form 1 service. What is the process for getting an individual suppressor stamp? Want a rimfire can before the ban hammer hits.
Planning to efile or paper? trust or individual?
Efile is faster I believe. Just individual.

You will need to have a passport photo to upload (you can get away with one you take yourself IF the background and such are good to go; no hats, logos on shirts, etc.). You will NEED to send in paper copy fingerprints.
I learned how from watching YouTube Videos
Looking at doing a Form 1 pistol suppressor. Added up all the stuff, I would be into it for $550 with tax stamp. That would be titanium tube, end cap, spacer and booster with stainless steel cones. Hmmmm....perhaps AFTER the holidays.
Order prints from silencershop.
Download and print your "passport" photo on file with them.
When prints come in, efile, and follow the instructions to mail photo and prints.

I got my fingerprint cards for free from the ATF for my Form 1. You can also take your own passport photo.
Order free fingerprint cards here:

Since the passport photo is just digitally uploaded, just take a pic following passport photo rules. No need to get an official photo from Walgreens or whatever.
Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise...my Form 1 should be approved any day now. Here are some photos and parts list of what I'm using for anyone who may be interested,
1. SD Tactical 5.8" Titanium D-Cell tube (1.355 ID) - https://sdtacticalarms.com/product/barrel-shroud/
2. SD Tactical end cap (D-Cell) - https://sdtacticalarms.com/product/titanium-mounts/
3. Rearden MFG Atlas adapter to mount on "Plan B" muzzle device (thread pitch: 1.4375-20) - https://www.reardenmfg.com/product/atlas-thread-adapter/
4. 2" titanium spacer for blast chamber - https://saucyjoestech.com/products/titanium-tubing
5. 50 degree stainless "super duper" cups from Pure Performance Armory. These are the shorty skirt ones - https://pureperformancearmory.com/product/1-355-super-duper-shorty-skirt/
Form 1 will be for a 5.56/223. Cones will be center punched at .273 and single "clipped". Clips will be aligned when placed into the tube. I'll add video once it's approved/done.

You should be using a SS cup for the blast chamber. Follow with the other one, then finish with the Ti cups.

I used all SS cones, simply for the cost factor and they didn't have any of the .50 skirted cones in Ti. Didn't feel like cutting down Ti cones. All in all, the can doesn't weigh that much. I'll get it weighed when I get home tonight just to see. It worked perfectly, didn't even have to re-zero the rifle with it on.
What was the total cost for everything?
$650 for everything - including tax stamp.
Did you guys see this? ATF is denying Form 1 silencers builds, saying ".....they already have the parts to make a silencer, so they already have one illegally?!?"
The whole INTENT thing again.
They are off the rails now................... well they always have been off the rails, but this pattern with them is getting old.

Is the ATF Mass Disapproving Home Made Form 1 Suppressors? The Firearm Blog (https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2022/03/01/atf-mass-disapproving-form-1/)
Yup. Even if you manufacture the entire thing yourself. If you have a DLS 3d printer, the purchase of the powder to print a suppressor makes the powder a suppressor.
And it's not even if you already have the parts. They're saying that they will not issue a form 1 for a whole can because EACH part is a suppressor. Then, you can't even make the part because if you have a form 1 in hand for a baffle, the piece of flat steel you're staring at on the bench is a suppressor. Therefore, you're a felon

Damn. I was hoping my interpretation was incorrect.
Now, it sounds like the atf wants a full description of materials to be used, as well as the machining steps you're going to take. Here's the kicker, they also want a photo of the materials you intend to use.
"Sure, mister dog murderer, I'll send you photos that contain items you determine to be NFA items, to obtain permission to make a NFA item."
No fuckin' way I'm signing up for that.
I?d send them a picture of a doughnut and tell them that I plan to make a suppressor out of it.
When they come to kick in my door and shoot my dog I?ll eat the illegal doughnut and make them prove in court that I ever actually had said doughnut in my possession before getting the tax stamp to legally own the doughnut.

Cool, wonder how many rounds I could get out of a Zucchini before it got soft. I've heard size matters.

For whatever reason, diversified machine customers are being singled out. Reading the ATF justifications just causes eye twitching, but it's the same old thing where Everything is already a Suppressor, and making a suppressor out of a suppressor is illegal.

There is a lot of chatter about getting all those that were denied to gather and with help of a rights organization to take ATF to court. Most places are giving advice to contact your representative........... though that depends if your Gov representative actually cares.
It boils down to if you go through the steps to make a NFA item legally your still in trouble. "Damned if you do, damned if you don't............."
Wonder why ATF does not apply this same logic to Form 1 SBR builds? You already have the lower and intend to put a shorter than 16" barrel on it even if you don't at this time, but it is your INTENT when you fill out the Form 1?
There is zero logic or following of their own rules................... they create in house by the brain trust.

I half suspect the SBR and SBS is next on this. You are in possession of parts to make an SBR by being in possession of an AR lower...type of garbage.

I’m sure an intrepid attorney and a few smart asses could use this against them. Per example, I agree with the ATF let’s surrender anything that we intend to make into a suppressor. I have this old broke down Plymouth Reliant K car that I intend to make a surpressor. I should go drop it off at the ATF office. At least until I get an approved form 1.

Outside of the F1 issues. IMO they opened efile to F4's to go after braces and "triggers"
