Do you all anneal? I?m considering getting into it.

Two questions

1. Is there anywhere around Denver that would process brass/anneal?

2. If I picked up a AMP annealer would there be enough people that would want to utilize it to make it worth the investment?

Thanks!

Annealing is a must for longer lasting brass.

I thought about getting into it myself but hoser has top of line equipment, he is more than fair on pricing and and has a super fast turn around normally so at the end of the day I would just rather send him my stuff to so for me IMHO.

I have an AMP and like it very much. I anneal for brass life and also for consistency in neck tension. I think I see a small but detectable decrease in the standard deviation of the velocities of precision ammo when I anneal. I know some guys don’t anneal every cycle, but it’s so easy with the AMP I see no reason not to.

I anneal my more precision oriented brass every reload or when I am doing a lot of shoulder reforming. I bought an AMP and I also have an AMP Mate so it takes me about zero extra time.

Every once in a while someone will ask me to anneal some brass when I am processing it for them, but for sure I wont be spending all that extra cash on hookers and blow.

On what scale do you want anneal? I dont think that the amp annealer is a production oriented machine.

I have several induction heaters and set one up for annealing brass. It can process 20-30 cases a minute, depending on case size.

Between my 30 and 6.5 cals I probably shoot 1000 rds a year.

What prompted me to explore this is owning two 6.5 PRC?s.

I have a little under 200 rds and don?t know when I can get more components.

Speed has no interest to me, I would lean toward the AMP because it seems a bit more idiot proof, and I occasionally identify as an idiot.

The price tag on those is pretty steep, but with a hobby of long range shooting what isn?t expensive.

Ok, It kinda sounded like you were looking to justify the purchase with a large volume of work for it.

Justify purchase yes, large volume, no.

I have an AMP. I bought it when living in a townhome and not wanting to use a torch setup.

If your paranoid about consistency the AMP is really nice. I have used a torch setup before and it worked fine.

I would save money and get a torch setup if you just want to extend brass life. If you are the guy that shoots every test load with the LabRadar going and a Kestrel logging atmospherics, just get the AMP.

Edit: I only really anneal precision oriented loads. I don?t bother with bulk 223/300blk loads.
