View Full Version : Borrow an 8' Trailer in the next month?

It may be a long shot, but I'm in need of an 8' trailer for about half a day, at some point in the next month.

A little context - I run the smallbore silhouette matches and sit on the executive board of Green Mill Sportsman's club, and am going to be replacing the stems we sit our targets on, in May. Colorado Rifle Club has generously granted me permission to use some of their extra I-Beams from the old KMart they reclaimed them from like 30 years ago, but I need to transport them from CRC to Green Mill (about 1.5 hour drive, between the two ranges).

The beams are 80 and 88" long and weigh in the ballpark of 50-60lbs apiece. I'm retrieving 15 of them, so the haul won't be much over 1000lbs even if my ballpark weight of each is off a bit. For what it's worth, I can pick each one up easily enough.

Towing the trailer with my short bed pickup is no problem, as is loading and unloading them all myself, so not looking for any muscle at this point unless you just want to tag along with your trailer.

If anyone has a simple utility/flatbed trailer I can borrow sometime, I'd be extremely grateful.
Thanks for any consideration.

You can borrow my 5x8. Can you come pick it up around 88th and Washington? I don't currently have an operable tow rig.

That would be incredible, Irving. Thank you so much. I only live 10 minutes north of you, so that is easy to do. I'll send you a PM momentarily to connect offline.

Same with my 16 if you need it. It's around imboden and 120th.

I got a 4x8 HF special. 1200lb capacity. Has removable sides about 2+ feet tall. I?m in Longmont.

Sounds like Irving's got you covered, but if need be, they would fit in the back of my longbed truck if it were a weekend thing.

I'm kinda confused as to why the pickup cant handle them?

Thanks to everyone who replied. I'm amazed by the generosity and willingness to help, but guess I shouldn't be. I've seen it second hand time and time again over the years.
Irving has me covered and is nearby, so i'll take him up on it in the next week or so as timing aligns.

As for why my pickup can't handle it directly: it's too short and has a wooden rack system built into it along with a soft topper. It's best to use a trailer in my case so I don't ruin either. I'd also rather not have the beams hanging out the back end because of how much time I'll be on dirt roads potentially vibrating the beams around. Even tied together with ratchet straps, I'd much prefer to have them held in by a tailgate or trailer gate.

Glad you brought that up. My trailer has no real tail gate. I took it off and converted it to ramps.
