The governor's thoughtful comments are surely helping the situation...

Gwen and I are praying for Daunte Wright's family as our state mourns another life of a Black man taken by law enforcement.

The shooting may be justified or unjustified, yet to be determined, but that is no matter to the woke priesthood- where guilt is determined prior to analysis of evidence.

Gotta stir the pot... These politicians should be accused of inciting whatever ensues from the statements made, just like they went after President Trump over the Capitol... Any bet takers in that happening? Nah, we already know....[facepalm]

Interesting how they omitted the part of the story. Where his mother is quoted as saying. DON'T RUN, DON'T RUN! . Which for some reason has now been, either scrubbed from the web. Or delegated to some obscure area.

Body cam released. Officer yelled "taser, taser, taser" then put a round in him. Pulled the wrong one.

Well, no hopefully not in cases where they’re actually criminals and need to be locked up... but yeah, I agree with you that they should do what the law says and you’ll be alright!

Philando Castile also comes to mind for someone like me that carries concealed almost anytime I go out. I think he was also killed in a suburb of Minneapolis or St Paul IIRC.

This one is looking bad for everyone involved. Mistakes happen, but they're especially tragic when someone dies as a result.

Accidentally grabbing a gun from one side of her belt rather than the taser on the other and not immediately realizing it by feel...

It appears she also dropped it as the car pulled away.

Running from the police was a terrible decision.

Bailey Guns
04-13-2021, 05:44
Yep... It looks like the officer screwed up. No question. From a former LE perspective I also don't like how they're trying to take the guy into custody right next to his OPEN car door. In my opinion this was a poorly conducted traffic stop. No excuse for Wright to wind up being shot and killed, though.

Having said that... Hey, Daunte...this is partially on you, dude. Comply with the officers, don't resist arrest and don't try to get in your car and drive away after you've been told you're being arrested for having warrants. If you hadn't set this chain of events into motion you'd still be alive. You'd be in jail but you'd still be alive. I seriously doubt the cure for cancer and other evils plaguing society died with you so I'm not gonna get too worked up over your death. I'm more concerned the life of an apparently valuable member of society has forever been altered and likely ruined because you decided to, once again, be an asshole.

The city manager was fired for saying in a press conference that all employees should be given due process (in regards to this shooting). OK...so now we're firing people for saying due process is a thing for everyone. Great.

One good thing that came outta this? Professional sports games were apparently cancelled overnight. At least we didn't have to listen to overpaid kids that play games for a living tell us what's wrong with society.

And Donut nailed it...as usual.

No, it didn't. Neither did getting drunk and playing with a gun that appeared to some people to be real. And the police officer that shot him was charged and processed and put thru the system. He didn't run from police or do anything else stupid or get drunk and act a fool. He went to court and presented his side of the story and a jury found him not guilty. And he's still facing a civil trial as far as I know.

So if we're gonna bring things like this up maybe it would be appropriate to tell the entire story.

The video is available for all to see. They wanted blood, and they got it. Their professionalism was lower than the freaking Iraqi army. I've seen 19 and 20 year olds act more professionally in a combat zone with people who don't even speak English. They wanted to play conflicting orders Simon says the whole time continuing to escalate the situation.

Brailsford's dust cover said it all: "You're Fucked". He's a piece of shit. Let's not act like the legal system is worth anything.

ETA: Do you know WHY those 19 and 20 year olds were of a mindset which enabled them to act as cordially, professionally, and sensibly as possible? Because they understood that if they did something which resulted in dishonoring an elder, a woman, or just in general a local national, or injured/killed them, that it would result in retribution beyond the normal day to day attempts on the lives of themselves and their brothers in arms.

It would behoove the police to recognize that cus as Donut says with the most recent situation, these events are going to cost officers their lives.

It's not hard to not be a dumbass.

Bailey Guns
04-13-2021, 10:24
Don't try to make this sound as if I'm defending Brailsford. I don't necessarily disagree with what you say about him. But we can't have it both ways. You've done it as have others...bitch about officers acting with impunity and not facing the same system as everyone else. Well, he did face the system and it's not over for him yet. Daunte didn't and he's responsible for setting the chain of events into motion that got his dumbass killed. So did Shaver. That doesn't mean either death was necessary. People die unnecessarily every day from doing stupid shit.

So, yeah...it's NOT hard to NOT be a dumbass for most people. But some people, like Daunte, make it a lifestyle.

Things happen for a reason. Sometimes, that reason is a person is stupid and make bad decisions. Sometimes, those bad decisions have unforeseen consequences: Fail to appear, have warrants issued, get stopped by the police, elect to act inappropriately, receive a fatal life lesson. A series of bad choices led to this encounter, continued bad choices, combined with a regrettable mistake by another, proved fatal.

On the other hand, the mayor is saying she's not entitled to due process so fuck it... Just lock her up. Throw her to the wolves. She's guilty of something. She doesn't need a trial or a lawyer or any of that bullshit. She's a white cop so she's obviously guilty of all sorts of racist shit.

I've been thinking about that Donut guy's video today. While he's 100% correct, pulling funding from LE agencies is NOT the way to make police better, many agencies could prioritize budgets a bit better. And many LEO's could put a lot more effort to getting training on their own time.

Every good LEO I have ever known would LOVE to get more department paid training time but it's just not an option. While some of them search out training opportunities, many do not. For example, one State Patrol officer I'm good friends with wishes he got more firearms training. The department doesn't provide it, but his schedule absolutely affords him plenty of time to go out and get it on his own.

It's no different than private sector professionals. Most employers provide little to no training. But professionals who want to get better at their jobs go out and find it anyway.

Many LE agencies could also invest more in their officers even with their current budgets. For example, if the department can't afford to pay for training, at least don't force officers to use vacation to go on their own. Or departments could strike a group discount deal of some sort with a local martial arts gym and incentivize officers to sign up. My LEO Dad took his defense tactics and arrest control VERY seriously and never stopped training because he knew good technique decreased the likelihood situations would get out of control. We're discussing the topic of this thread in part because of poor arrest technique.

Or perhaps the department could pass on the opportunity to buy that cool new drone or armored swat truck that will be used twice a year and instead send 100 officers to some sort of training. They truly could invest more in their people in many cases. (Like most employers).

I feel bad for officers that don't get good training, but only to a point. Self improvement is ALWAYS an option.

And that is the sad truth. At least down here the EPSD and CSPD have two pistol and rifle ranges 5 miles apart for their use. The range that is 700 yards away from where I live is always going to include select fire weapons. It is funny that the new people that moved in think it is Ft Carson so I have to explain that it is not so don't blame them for that noise.

Honestly with the installation of Biden as president, I no longer object fully to the idea of de-funding and or even eliminating the police.

Can't enforce his stupid gun control schemes with no cops. Those of us out here in the red areas of the country are well armed, connected to one another and can take care of ourselves (we can always muster a militia if necessary).

A year of no police and the black and blue communities will not only demand their return, they'll probably demand a Gendarmerie (which might actually be the goal of this nonsense to begin with).

That is EXACTLY the goal of all this. Have the people beg to send in the military to restore order and you can send in people with no local ties or empathy for the local area.

...at which point you can REALLY get down to business.

To be fair, the CMSC is right on the edge of Ft Carson and is a multi-use facility. Even if it was Fort Carson, I'd want our soldiers to get actual practice time with their weapons and blame the morons who move right in next to an Army post (or airport or ...) and expect it to be as quiet as an unused national forest.
