In the last couple of weeks I've seen Colt ARs in local shops and online at pre-craziness prices ($1030-$1150) as just an example. Concern over them being banned so clearing out inventory? If my shoulder wasn't compromised I'd grab an M1A though they seem to be staying put or climbing in price. There's always my lever gun in .357 I guess.

If you drew a chart with AR prices over the last twenty years or so it would look like a roller coaster. The high points would probably coincide with election years so the fact that we just passed one of those could explain the trending lower prices.

Where are you finding Ar-15s? Local shops here have bare walls.

Big R here in Trinidad still has several. The pistol cases are a little low, but still several in stock. Ammo shelves are bare.

The owner works his ass off to keep inventory coming in the door.

Bowers, Ark, Damage Factory, even Centennial Gun Club has them at normal prices. Multiple online retailers have them as well again at normal prices, I get many emails every day from them advertising in stock rifles and pistols.

Yep, was going to say the same. Ammo prices seem to be going down a little...

Check your local Murdochs.

As for prices; if riots start this week, I'm sure they will go back up.

I feel bad that more people didn't take advantage of the historic low prices we had for 4 years.

I'm going to be THAT guy...

Just a few short years ago I got a new Sig M400 W/ Romeo3 for $699.99.

My guess is that demand is somewhat stagnant because anybody who wanted an AR over the past 6 years or so likely already has one (or more.)

For new purchases, people are probably doing a "watch and wait" regarding any potential gun bans.

Nobody wants to spend top dollar on something only to get a letter in the mail in a few months telling them to either register it as an NFA or turn it in or face felony charges.

IF a gun ban goes into effect and IF it "grandfathers" in firearms that are already owned (as the 1994 AWB did), THEN I would expect to see a buying frenzy between the date the law was signed and the effective date of the new law.

OTOH, if a gun ban is passed that does not "grandfather" in already owned firearms, then I'd expect to see the bottom drop out of the AR market as people try to ditch them for cash while they still have some value.

I made a mistake, Centennial has the Colt for $1080 plus tax/cbi.
Shot there today and double checked. Yes under the 1994 ban I was offered stupid money for one of my 6920s by someone most would consider a ?Fudd?-admitted he waited too long but wanted to get one just because the government didn?t want him to have it.

I remember the prices jumping up a good bit before the law changed at the end of June, 2013. Saw many rifles selling for double their value from the year before.
