View Full Version : A few thoughts about the Columbus shoot

Seeing the Columbus shoot video within hours of the incident (because Columbus PD smartly posted the officer's body cam footage right away), I remember thinking "well, even though the Chauvin case is right in front of us, at least nobody can really argue that Columbus was awesome policing". How completely wrong I was. Speaking only for myself, that appears to be one of the very "best" police shoots I have ever seen, and the best in recent memory. What the officer had to process in seconds and make exactly the right decision in lethal use of force still amazes me. On my best day, I could not have processed and reacted as quickly and correctly as he did.
One thought I now have is - well, if the left is hair on fire outraged at such an obviously correct use of force. there is probably no use of force (white on black, of course, for now) that the left would not consider a hair on fire outrage. They can be expected to push the racism, defund police, eliminate police, etc narratives every single time regardless of the circumstances - even where it is clear early-on the police acted correctly.
With this in mind, the left (Dems, administration, most media, academia, hollywood. big tech, deep state, etc) can be expected to push all forms of defund/eliminate/re-imagine police to drive public opinion to support local police replacement with a national police force that is controlled by the power centers of the left. Straight out of Rules for Radicals by Alinsky. I have NOT seen the coordinated left actually propose this yet, but if they do, to me the blueprint is laid bare.
I wouldn't be surprised if this integrates with the data gathering/spying capabilities of the alphabet agencies and big tech. The objective being to identify potential threats in the population and deal with them proactively. I think this was the "civilian police force" that Obama mentioned years ago about saying it would be (paraphrasing) "just as large and as well armed as the military" and has since been silent about. I also believe this is the likely answer to "who is going to try to confiscate the guns"? Imagine pre-dawn surprise raids to targeted individuals - similar to what we saw with Roger Stone. Not a neighborhood or city at the same time. A series of individual surprise raids.
To me, this seems like a logical connection of the dots based on what the left has said in the past and recently about gun control, demonization of most of the country, and hatred of police. Seems to work toward their control/centralization impulses. What say you? Makes sense, wacky conspiracy theory, or something else?
Just wait until deepfake manipulation becomes widespread on both sides.
In any event, while it is difficult to predict the future with the accuracy of a crystal ball, I have long thought that heavily political ideals are unwise to publish online, when they literally accomplish nothing in practice, but potentially risk everything in certain future circumstances (even if none of that were to come to pass). That doesn't mean I predict that to happen, only that I've anticipated that risk for more than a decade. I recommend discussing harsher political views only in the personal company of others.
And it is not only for that reason.
We live in an era where our online speech is archived for all time. Imagine the ease for a prosecutor/investigator if they had a log of what someone had said over the course of their entire life. Do a quick search, pick out "incriminating" statements (which are admissible), and our judicial system denies any positive assertion as hearsay. One way or the other, a person will appear guilty of any crime when you have that level of access, and we are basically already there, even though they won't have any memory of uttering/writing/whatever 20 years ago.
Exhibit A: Imagine all the jokes a person has made about "boating accident" and similar inferences coming up in the course of a court trial where they allege the "suspect", despite turning over dozens of weapons after a "red flag order", clearly circumvented the law and is caching weapons somewhere.

Ok, but keep in mind that I'm only connecting together what the left has repeatedly said and done. And if you think this is something that many on the left have not already contemplated I have a bridge to sell ya.
I have NOT seen the coordinated left actually propose this yet, but if they do, to me the blueprint is laid bare.
It was bare years ago but walked back when there was too much pushback*.

Maybe when they hire police officers they should just get them to sign an affidavit stating that they identify as black. Problem solved. There will never be another person of color killed by a white cop.

Monday morning QB this the cop had 4 choices.
Shoot Attacker - You're a racist for killing a black person
Let attacker stab victim - You're a racist for not protecting black lives
Taze attacker, who would likely have still got a stab or two in. Why didn't use more force, you're a racist.
4th option. Static on the radio, didn't hear call.
I'm amazed that the first girl attacked hasn't been reported having injuries.

Option 4 becomes the "safe" option for our embattled LEOs. What a freaking shit show this country is right now...

#4 will become the norm.
but, remember, you don't need guns because the defunded cops are coming to save you....no, wait
What is amusing is the end result years from now may be a police force comprised of mall cops, e.g. people who should never have any authority and don't deserve even $13.00 an hour. But it won't be their fault, the police will "always have been that way" and they are just "catching all the bad stuff now"

Everyone realizes there will be plenty of assholes lining up to get the "National Police Force" jobs right? look at TSA
I think some of you might be missing the point about the national police force.
Their "special teams" will be made of of violent people who are not afraid of, and in some cases delight, in killing. You need those kinds of folks to to assure an iron hand of fear over the deplorables.
Many names are already available in the "catch and release" lists of violent protesters, and their records are also clean because of catch and release.
Imagine what would happen if you pin a badge on a couple hundred antifa members and send them into a "troubled" city.

This is textbook propaganda. I'm not saying that there is nothing to be concerned about, but this is fear mongering at its finest.
All shooting will divide into 2 groups.
Defund the Police Vs. Defund the Welfare

I'm just going with the documented, historical progression of socialism in countries that have fallen, while adding a few specific details with what's currently happening here and now.
In all honesty I hope you're right.

Many of the small countries or with less than 100m population usually have national police but have district branch and state.
I know it is weird for some, but country is too small to divide and allocate funds to state and cities.
It is like Monaco, San Marino, Luxemburg, having different police department in every tiny town is inefficient.
Yes. US and some large countries should have different system than Monaco.
That being said, 1 national police system would not work too well due to city ordnance, state law being so different to next.
Anyone that says how the future "will be" or how "it's all going to play out" is essentially universally wrong. People have been making predictions as long as we are alive, and when they are specific, you can pretty much guarantee they will be dead wrong.
Take 9/12/2001 for instance.
I challenge anyone to find a "prophet" that predicted that in under 7 years, we would elect a black/arab/white man with the name Barrack Hussain Obama who grew up in an Islamic school in Indonesia to be president. You won't find a single person that saw that coming.
Likewise, I cannot predict what the next eight years will bring. Dramatic changes are possible. Broad predictions are possible. But saying x-force is going to be created and how they are going to operate, and these are the people that they will hire, and they will roam the streets bathing in blood... [ROFL2]
It's not impossible, but it's also not impossible that we are being covertly ruled by lizard aliens. Just because something isn't impossible doesn't mean you "should believe it". That is not to say we have a rosy future, it is only to say that the road into the wilderness is not like one we have ever driven down before. Claiming to know where it ends is a fools errand.
I will say, despite all the fantasies that gun owners often portray themselves in, IF, and I reiterate, IF a "gun ban" ever does come to pass, it isn't going to be door to door confiscations like many spank it to. No, broad confiscation will only come when the next generation of kids, now grown into adults, that call police and report what they feel is the equivalent of a meth lab in the house they just inherited from you, having such limited exposure to firearms and a lifetime of their society casting them in a negative light.
Our opponents are not morons. They aren't going to go into the lobster pot and get themselves killed. They'll just patiently wait for us to boil ourselves, and avoid crossing any lines that would make us crawl out of the pot. And it is amazing that more don't recognize that. Colorado isn't pursuing an AWB right now... why?
THAT is about as specific as a prediction I can make. They will never seize your guns from your cold dead hands (rare red flag cases excluded). Your decedents will simply be happy to turn them over as soon as your casket is shut after that heart attack.

Great write-up, makes quire a bit of sense. It's been interesting to see how fast the Left has moved. I'm sure they felt the same about the last administration (moving so fast). When the last Conservative friendly news media goes away, and censorship is completely "progressive" the scenario you describe could become reality.

A very large portion of them ARE morons. The problem is that most of the group in control (Maxine Waters being a prominent exception) are not morons and are quite devious as evidenced by the use of Antifa and BLM riots through 2020 to create a feeling of unrest throughout the country, stir up their base, and build a basis for labeling their opponents as -ists and -phobes.
Great shoot. He saved a minimum of one young woman?s life, possibly more.
And it all circles round to foster kids fighting each other and literally trying to kill each other over keeping the foster moms house clean.
Absolute insanity.
And the biological mom shows up out of nowhere? Just after a payday. Where were you for your child....she should be locked up for being worthless.

I predict your wrong. My friends and I have young to very young children who understand. Those same values have been passed on for generations. There will be a percentage that do as you say but there will also be a majority who are able to call a spade a spade.
And “we” didn’t vote for Obama. Maybe you did but I sure as hell did not. Given the last election who is to say it was even legitimate.

Good point - tough to say for sure w/all the political BS. The left is relentless, and the scenario described by FoxArt is just about as possible as not (maybe he voted for Obama? Low blow...).
What IS clear to me is that these misguided are generally in the big blue cities, they are vulnerable (reliant on the red counties for power, food, etc.), and they are ever increasingly batshit crazy. It is also likely that many more will go the way of Seattle, Portland, and Minneapolis, and that some semblance of sanity will prevail and people will start to push back (in those cities), but we have yet to see that happen. Yes, there will be those who can see the hypocrisy and lunacy, I'm not sure it will remain the majority - time will tell.

There are plenty out there hoping things will subside, and we see but a small narrative of that based on our extreme left news sources. They tell any story, true or not and apologize quietly later if they were out of line. Much along the lines on Lebron James. The worthless fuck who put a cops name out essentially on a hitlist. A cop who saved at least one life.
Foxtart has posted enough, I would only strongly guesstimate was an Obama voter. Pushes hard to be a supreme intellectual on a gun forum.
My “we” comment is more of a married mans joke about how my wife might say something along the lines of “we” should paint the house/clean the garage etc. mouse in the pocket type of thing. But again, “we” didn’t vote for Obama. Dig in the history on this site and you will find the proof if it really matters.
But I’ve read enough to call a spade a spade. If im wrong, he/she/it (who knows in today’s age) is going about it the wrong way and has for quite some time. I’m sure I’ll hear about it when I get up.

But again, ?we? didn?t vote for Obama. Dig in the history on this site and you will find the proof if it really matters.

Lima Charlie Sniper7, and yes Lebranon James is a special POS, blessed with athletic capacity, given an opportunity only few have, and then shittng on the very people he depends upon for his own safety...
LOL, "Obama voter", maybe I'm a "Racist" too. Glad to see people are superior to their opponents in discussions [ROFL1]
PS: You can search the site for who I voted for if you care to. Here, I'll help you out. Trump 2020, Trump 2016, Romney 2012, McCain 2008, Bush 2004. Yet, no, I am not G.O.P., I don't wander a pasture with any herd.
And for those that think I mean your "kids" I do not literally mean "your kids", I mean your inevitable decedents. Yes, many of our kids and grandkids will be shooters. I have kids too. That is not what I am talking about. There are some that maybe can't look far enough ahead. As the progressively regulate, ban, and grandfather things and your decedents keep the "illegal guns" that were supposed to be voluntary turned over after the grandfathering.... while they are never confiscated, these will be things that could get them practically a life sentence. They are things that their kids will not have any exposure to at all. Their kids will never shoot with them. They will never do anything other then, at best, handle them, and even then, probably very little of that (what if they go to school and say "Daddy has a _____")
I am SURE they are just going to be going out ALL THE TIME, shooting with their kids, risking 75 year prison sentences to pass on your values. Literally once grandfathered, and the kids are e.g. burying them to "keep them" is when the next generation will be turning them over. Case in point, when slide fires were banned, very few turned them in. However, how many people were still taking them out to public ranges? Imagine that on a bigger scale. Sure, after all the "cuts by a thousand lashes" accrue and bans cascade bans, the issue is those bans will simply be "voluntary confiscation". There will still be those firearms available for the next generation to "dig up", but yet.. how is that future generation going to acquire an interest in a hobby they don't actually get exposed to? Are they going to stare at the dirt where it was buried and say "that AR sure looks like fun"?
If, on the other hand, people think your opponents are morons and don't know where "the line is", and are planning for their to be a Charleston Heston uprising when the federal police force goes door to door asking for "guns, guns, guns for the whore", well, I guess it would make a good comic book, but it isn't reality. Anyone that studies history knows not to underestimate the opponent, and in this case, our opponents are not morons. Lets see... who took over the educational institutions decades ago... Nor are they in any rush. Once again I ask... gee, why is Colorado not pushing for an AWB right now? You know they want it. They want it bad. But they happen to be smart enough not to boil us too quickly. You know they have the political power in Colorado to just outright ban anything right now. You know they want it. So here's the question for all the people who say "never going to happen".
Question:
Why is Colorado not going the full 9 miles and introducing every firearm bill they have their heart set on?
I did vote for Bill Clinton on his first run though. So I will give you that.
In my defense, was quite young and it was just faces next to checkboxes and the teacher told us to check one (kids voting). I don't know my reasoning, maybe blue was tastier crayons than red at the time.
ETA: And the better phrased point is:
The risk we face is not from confiscation, they will succeed at their end simply by discouraging the active use of the firearms hobby. Things like limiting ammunition supply, increasing costs, grandfathering, attacking ranges, etc., if they make it incredibly expensive and inconvenient to shoot, and/or make it so that people are keeping "illegal guns" but yet, cannot shoot with them (or any other mechanism), they will completely "win" at their end game in about a generation (30 years). Sure, there would be a few left, but that undercuts their opposition so much they can finally achieve their ends.
They are not stupid, and will not get themselves killed by making gun owners "crawl out of the pot".
Your decedents will simply be happy to turn them over as soon as your casket is shut after that heart attack.
Normally I'd agree with you, but the left hasn't shown that much patience or restraint so far and I don't expect them to start showing it anytime soon.

Yeah who knows. The destination at the end of the road will be mostly a surprise no matter what. It's not impossible that world affairs go sufficiently to hell to invalidate our worries anyway.

With the d's in control of all 3 legislative branches. As well as placing like minded , politically bent in power at the FBI, HSA, ATF, etc. They'll let the feds do the leg work. Then use said laws to kick it up a notch in CO. Based on bidens use of EO and every anti-gun politician seeing who can submit the most restrictive laws. Why rush?
I bet some of yall voted for Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, and/or Walter Mondale.

Great observation.
Regarding the OP, maybe BLM and its twitter hanger-on's have overreached, saner voices are weighing in:
Val Demings: "officer who shot Ma?Khia Bryant ?responded as he was trained?"
?Everybody has the benefit of slowing the video down and seizing the perfect moment,? Demings said. ?The officer on the street does not have that ability. He or she has to make those split-second decisions and they?re tough."
