I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix that has not been registered or driven for a number of years and a 68 Chevrolet Pickup last registered in texas close to 15 years ago on my property that I am needing to find out the best way to rid myself of. Do I end up having to register and title them to do so? Basically both currently can not be driven.

Basically in search of appropriate and expedient ways to get rid of both.

Donate it to PBS.

Still have the titles? Put em on craigslist for $600 starting price each , as is condition , and negotiate down to sell quickly with buying responsible for removal by a posted timeframe.

If you just want em gone there are several towing and salvage operations that will come pick it with a flat bed.

Donate it to PBS.

Colorado radio 105.5 might be a better choice.

Don't just pick CPR/PBS, because they are on the radio... a lot of places can take them.

Ebay the 68 PU if you want the most money. If it has a big block motor you will get even more.

I concur with regard to the pickup. The '67 - '72 Chevies were, IMO, the best looking pickups ever made. True classics and highly collectible. Someone will want it for parts if nothing else.

Yeah, start by posting photos and at least what you think is wrong with each.

I suggest the OP do some research. That 68-72 body style is in DEMAND. HOWEVER that demand depends on how solid, or scrap/rust bucket they are. Is the glass still there, do the window cranks work .

I have a guy in NE that may have an interest. As well as 2 others in the denver metro area. I left all of them a message regarding the truck .

AS for the pontiac , if the body is good, any one with that year and parts interchange years, would probably have an interest .

Is the Pontiac the 3800 with a factory super charger by any chance?

That truck is probably worth 5-10k. Just saying if you need someone to come get it off your property shouldn’t be too hard to get someone to come get it

I may have a guy that will come pick up the Grand Prix for free if your giving it away and have a title

Its a 3/4 Ton long bed camper special, not a short bed which typically have more interest.. but Im not a car guy One pic in its better days and the other several years ago, not quite an accurate representation of its current state there is clear and obvious rust in spots.

Just this weekend my friends sent me pictures of this same truck (single cab long bed) with paint in worse condition and they were so happy they snatched it up. Do some research and let us know what you want for it. You won't have a problem getting rid of it for sure.

The ‘68 is worth some $$. Put it on Craigslist. I would buy it if I had a place to work on it.

Do some research on prices. I have a hunch that's worth a fairly substantial amount of money if you have the title.

OP, looks like both could be spoken for if you put up an ad in TP. If your willing to hassle with C-list sounds like some decent cash to be made.

I would drive it.
The Chevy, not the pontiac, only MODS drive those.Grew up hunting and fishing with grandparents out of a late 60's Camper special with a big Mitchell on the back.

I would do the same. Too bad Mitchell has been gone for many years.

[panic] yes it's a 3/4 T. I can't make out the Intact emblems.

A camper special?? stock ![panic]
Either way in parts alone, for ORIGINAL FACTORY ones, no less. You're sitting on more that you realize you have. Windshield, grill, doors and bed look good for the year. Not to mention the emblems are there.

If i didn't have OHS last week. I'd cheerfully drive up and take it off your hands. Throw a slide in camper on that, and cruise the western U.S.

Possibly $7800 for the pickup in fair condition.. yours looks better than fair unless the motor is blown or something. Rust free body adds more value than a good drivetrain though.

That truck is my favorite GM body style. I never figured out why it had such a short lifespan, quickly replaced by the "super square" models.

Same here. It's funny that among a lot of people younger than me, the "square body" (1973 - 1989) has sort of become the "classic:" old Chevy, but I always hated the square body because it killed the gorgeous 67 - 72 body style.

As far as its short run, 6 years wasn't unusually short for a body style back then. The previous body style had only been around since 1960 and the body style before that was only around for 5 years (55 - 59.)

I think the only reason Chevy stuck with the Square Body for so long is that when the gas crisis hit, they shifted emphasis to smaller cars and trucks (remember the LUV?) and figured there was no point in tweaking the full size truck lineup at that time.

I have a 64 C10 that needs a bench seat. That 68 wouldn't happen to have a bench seat would it?

But to answer your question, I volunteer on a FD. They are always looking for vehicles for training needs. I would also recommend calling them as they will use them for training.

To give you helpful answers:

AFAIK You do not have to register something to get a title copy. You can probably get a duplicate title if it was last registered in Texas. Problem is, you have to get that from the Texas DMV. Call them and give them the VIN # and see what process they have and if they can do it entirely by mail.

WORST case you have to do a lost title process in CO, which involves getting a bond and filling out extra paperwork. Net cost on something like the 68' is probably about $500 if you have to go that route. If you do, ask more questions and I'll see what I can do, as I have in fact done that before. You do not have to register to sell it at all. Title in hand is good enough. Some people will be willing to buy it without a title (just a bill of sale) and they will do the lost title app. Note that they will be happy to shave off $3,000 off the price for all the help they are doing for you. When it comes to stuff like this, the amount of people willing to help is amazing [Coffee] No offense intended to all earlier offers in this thread, but yeah.

It is really worth your time to grab a title and properly auction/sell it.

My offers to help aren't trying to get in on a good deal by the way. I just bought an old truck recently (two actually) that I already don't have room for.

Looks like my first course of action is to chase down the titles. And / or dig around the house for them.

To be totally honest if I had the time, money, ability, energy etc.... to get the truck in running order and keep it I would. My father bought it when I was born and it has a personal history but the better choice is to let it go most likely..

Nice trucks. If you could get it going you'd probably have little trouble selling it. Definitely a better way to go then donating it.

My dad has a '68 Ford that he drives once a month or so just to make sure it still goes. He gets offers for it on a regular basis. I was with him once when he went to the lumberyard. The crew lined up to help him and talk about the truck.

Sounds like a good reason to give it to Jamanac, so his daughter can continue the tradition .

I dont have the desire to clean up the log that was rapidly dismantled last weekend, much less a car.
