I decided to hang up the Gore-tex jacket in the closet since the rain is over. Entering the spare room, I smelled wet. Looking up, I saw this...

Uh oh.

I got out the FLIR and took a look.

Yup. Definitely wet.

The HOA lady said another guy in a different building has the same problem in the same spot. I looked in the attic and didn't see anything. The beam is holding up the loft so I am guessing the transition between the roof and wall has a problem with the flashing or something but I am not happy.

This is going to be a pain in the butt. Too bad I am not on the HOA anymore... Wow! Never thought I'd say that!

Bought it for my home inspection business. Use it a lot on mold inspection and testing calls. Perfect for finding water issues.

You have a problem And the fancy tech is surely going to help your case. Not the doggo. LOL.

Check your HOA docs. Often, if the HOA insures the exterior, damage to the interior from that loss will be covered by the HOA insurance. However, you'd still need to file a claim with your own insurance, or otherwise get your interior damage fixed before the HOA insurance company will pay you anything.

I have the Flir One Pro for iPhone also. I tried the seek which technically has higher resolution at a lower cost but the Flir overlay feature plus ability to post-process the image to change scale, etc was so much more useful than actual resolution.

On the topic of ?Flir is cool? here are some pretty pics for the thread:

Found a loose wire on the panel at work. First photo is auto scaled heat. Second one is post processed and shows the exact point of heat.

Counterfeit SFP adapter runs hotter than a genuine one

Garage heater is hot

But so are my ducts in the garage wall. Gotta fix that.

Best spots for the steaks!

This is the same panel from above on the Seek. The Flir was much more useful for showing the problem in an email.

If I mound one of these to my RZR and connect it to an android head unit, can I see bunnies at a reasonable distance?

Yes. I have taken it on dog walks at night and they show up well at 50 feet or so, maybe farther. But, it is not good for use in motion. It takes a few seconds to display an image. When you move it too fast, it kinda stutters as it catches up.

There are models out there for in motion use. A few years ago there was a guy in the Iron Butt Rally that had one mounted to his bike so he could see deer on the side of the road before they attacked him.
