Wow...what a ride.

A couple of months back, I went into University Hospital in Aurora with a fever, feeling lethargic, persistent unproductive cough, etc. They confirmed, I got the Covid. Great. They sent me home and told me to quarantine. No problem. A couple days later, I knew something wasn't right because I was having difficulty breathing. My awesome friend who also happens to be renting my basement (Airborne Pathogen on here) takes me to urgent care in Lone Tree. I manage to shuffle inside and then the next thing I know, some nurse who looks like he could bench press a car is picking me up out of a wheelchair and putting me in a hospital bed. Forced oxygen on me, EKG leads all over me and doctors hovering about. Ultimately transported to Sky Ridge Medical Center by EMS. Turns out...I had Covid Pneumonia. First couple days were touch & go. Doctors had equipment standing by in the event I went into full respiratory failure. Finally, by day 3-4 they were confident I wasn't on the decline anymore. Spent about 2 weeks there. For the record, I'm a non-smoker, non-drinker and take decent care of myself with no underlying medical issues. However; Covid didn't care.

As a celebration of "not dying", I went to Front Sight last weekend for the 4-day Defensive Handgun class. Pulled off Distinguished Graduate on qualification day. Finally back in the shop working on holsters and trying to get caught up on orders.

No it isn't. Yet so many take what they have for granted.

Damn brother, that was a horrible experience and I'm sorry you had to go through it. The best news is that you're still with us and ultimately kicked COVID's butt.

Your lesson that tomorrow isn't guaranteed (and Kazoo's similar message a couple of weeks ago) isn't lost on me. Don't save the fine china for only special occasions, use it randomly to enjoy it. Don't hold off on doing the things on your bucket list, do those things at random times as finances allow to enjoy them while you can. Don't wait for another day to tell/show the people you care about how much they mean to you. It's too easy to fall into the trap of believing we'll all have plenty of tomorrow's, but we never really know. If we don't cherish what we have now, we may miss our opportunities.

I'm glad you pulled through and came back to tell the story. Healthy guy, two weeks in the hospital, must have been a shock, and awful. I agree with Ginsue, gotta check off those bucket list items along the way and not wait for the end days. Life can run out on you powerful fast.

Congrats on making Distinguished in the Front Sight class. Probably should have signed up for the vaccination class too. Don't buy China. Cheers, Squeeze!

Thank you all so very much for the kind words. Doc said since they gave me plasma with Covid antibodies, it is best to wait about 60 days before I get the vaccine. This coming week I'll be getting the Moderna vaccine. I've been on the forum for a good while and I hope to be here for a lot longer. As a couple of y'all mentioned, live for today. I'm gonna rock that out this summer. Planning a second trip to Front Sight in the near future.
