You could live off the commission from that sale for quite some time.

I worked on that house when it was first built back in 2006.

Yeah, why are you wasting time looking at houses, when you could be selling them instead?

Down here there's 255.4a ac (undeveloped) listed @ $900K, open to serious offers.
Kazoo just saved you $71.5 million, on your car insurance ;)

It's an okay house, but I've seen bigger and better for 1/10th of that price.

I have had an engineer quickly map my property and calculate easements, etc to 121 lots. Maybe I should be that guy and get it rezoned

Might not work down here. The natives are restless, especially when it comes to mini ranch style lots. I do know a "new development" down the road. Originally listed their starter homes from the mid $300's, WITH RV garage! . Due to cost of materials, they're now in the low $500's .
As for the house in Aspen, that house is on Red Mountain which always commands high dollars because of the view over downtown Aspen and the ski hill, can’t get any better in the area. Also, the house is likely being sold turn key fully furnished in move in condition as most of these houses are amd who knows, maybe the cars in the garage went with it. It’s probably full of $millions in art work. Remove the art and furniture the house probably drops back closer to the original purchase price of the previous owner.

4.5 ac. I guess they don’t go outside much.

Perhaps, yet people are paying $2k per for rent. Our house sold for 4.5x what we paid, by word of mouth. Who knew?

If someone pays $1M for that house they?re fucking stupid.I would agree, but it will come close based on the size of the house, and the detached "garage." The house itself needs some serious remodeling, but we'll see.

Admittedly, I looked at one picture and made my earlier comment- perhaps too early, it is a lot larger than I first thought, but still... i'd put that in the $600k range, not $1m, but i'm no realtor so what do I know.

Not in disagreement, but will add that sitting on a 1 acre lot in town boosts it some as well.
For an additional $300k I'd go this route: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/11650-Columbine-Hills-Rd-Colorado-Springs-CO-80908/13535976_zpid/
5 acres in Black Forest.

You would be amazed at what goes for that price these days.
I am a home inspector and have watched the prices soar. You should see some of the dumps I go to that are selling around 500k, let alone a million.
Almost every home that comes on the market has multiple offers, often more than ten.
A million dollar home ain't what it used to be.

How about the Slice of Hell House in Colorado Springs.
Listed at $590k and had 16 full price cash offers on first day.
Needs 150 to 230k in repairs and would be worth 700k when completed.
Do the math.
Made quite the sensation on the TV Presenters local coverage.

Interesting question.
According to the report, the house was in foreclosure after the renter, who was using a lease-option to buy contract for 10 years, was evicted for non-payment.
Not sure if lease-option requires renter or owner to pay the insurance.

Not sure if lease-option requires renter or owner to pay the insurance. When I bought in January 21, allowed our friends (the sellers) to remain in the home for 10 days after closing. Both parties were required to have insurance on the selling for that time. I'm no expert, but if I was selling on, lease to own especially, I'd be sure my ass was covered.
Not to mention I don't trust the news to not sensationalize a story.
